Clan Leader Admiral
Changed - Preparing - Much smaller than he remembers

Goat is the founder of the clan and still not really sure what happened to him. Originally a Guardian he found himself drawn to the Burrow and compelled to dig. When he finally dug down, releasing Diami from her timeless slumber, he was cocooned in rock and transformed into a Fae.

Now in charge of the Fae Armada, (of which there are few recruits) Goat tends to forget to take care of himself, or the Burrow. Luckily, Aloe takes care of him and Fading takes care of the clan.

Why is he forming the Armada? No one is quite sure...

Goat
"We look up at the same stars yet see such different things..."

Once upon a time, an egg was lost.

It is not uncommon for eggs of Arcane to float and wander off, and rarely did Arcane dragons allow their eggs to drift out of sight. But this was so for a certain egg, who was picked up by the wind as it hovered in the air, and abruptly carried away.

The egg eventually ended up where all winds returned to -- the Windswept Plateau. Here, many a dragon looked up curiously as the breeze gently dropped the egg to the ground. None of the wind dragons knew what to do with the arcane egg, for they did not know who to return it to, and it was only after a long argument that they decided amongst themselves that they should take care of it.

And so the egg was nurtured and hatched in Wind territory, and raised under the care of wind dragons. The hatchling that came forth was a small Guardian, magenta eyes bright with curiosity. Immediately, it became clear that he would be no easy task to raise -- or so it was for the wind dragons -- for he had inherited his birth flight's immeasurable inquisitiveness as well as the eagerness to poke his nose in absolutely everything.

Nevertheless, his foster parents and clan did their job faithfully, and raised him as they saw fit -- in the ways of a wind dragon. They taught him flight and agility, and of the lores of the land. They did their best to groom him so that he would fit in, but despite their best efforts, the Guardian dragon still felt as if he did not belong. There was a yearning within him -- a desire to break the rules about him, a desire to use magic in ways his parents had told him not to. He was guilted by his instincts, ashamed of his differences, and because of this, his childhood was not a relatively happy one.

Thankfully, Guardian dragons are not expected to stay long in a lair, especially those who have yet to find their Charge. When this particular Guardian dragon was of age, he felt the irresistible tug towards his Charge, and with excitement and relief washing over him, he bid his foster parents farewell and left to discover the world.

Growing up in the Windswept Plateau had taught the Guardian, known as Goat, a false sense of security. In his mind, there was no evil, only laughter and cheer.

Unfortunately, reality proved to be quite different. It took Goat only two weeks to be robbed of all his possessions, and for him to realise that flight and agility were not as helpful as promised when you were attempting to run away from thirty plus two magical bandits. He was heartbroken by the losses he had suffered, but the skirmishes that fell upon him also gave him determination to go on and eventually get stronger. It was the skirmishes that led Goat to develop his magical skills, and along with it, a knowledge of alchemy. So when the thirty-two magical bandits ambushed him a second time, they found themselves tied up and turned into cute little plushies at the end of the scuffle.

...who knows? They may still be out there, arranged neatly on the boughs of a willow tree.

During his journey, Goat came across another Guardian, who introduced herself as Aloe. Aloe, also a child of Arcane descent, had suffered the same backstory as Goat, except that her egg had floated not into Wind, but Shadow territory. Thankfully, she had met good dragons, as Goat had, and had managed to grow under their care. Goat, she said, with much certainty, was her Charge, and despite Goat's repeated refusals, she insisted on coming with him.

With Aloe by his side, Goat eventually ended up back in the land he had come from -- the Starfall Isles. The pull towards his Charge became ever stronger, and eventually he found a place -- a small island crafted from one of the spines of the Crystalspine Reach -- where the tug became strong. He began digging down, mechanically, removing earth and tunnelling down the way his wind parents had taught him to -- in a spiral.

And thus was the beginning of the Burrow.

As Goat focused on digging, and Aloe focused on making sure he came up for air, many dragons -- most of them wanderers, stopped by to see what the two Guardians were doing and why exactly there was a big crater in the ground. Some dragons stayed, while others went. Those that did stay eventually grew into a clan that found itself a lair in the tunnel that Goat had dug. They dug more tunnels that branched out from Goat's tunnels, and slowly expanded what was now called the Burrow.

Quite oblivious to the revolutionary work that he had done, Goat continued digging down. There came a time when the pull of his Charge felt stronger than ever, and during this period of time, Goat refused to come out of the ground, no matter how much Aloe begged him to. For months Goat kept at it until he found a strange cave underground. Within the cave, buried under a pile of stone, was a strange, glowing object that charged the air with magic. Goat immediately knew it was his Charge to uncover that object. He went relentlessly on with his digging until finally, he dug up a small dragon, sound asleep.

But before Goat could sigh with relief, much less celebrate, the cave around him began trembling, for the dragon that he had dug up held a massive reservoir of energy, and the magic that exuded from her had agitated the environment around them. Goat attempted to fly out, but the cave closed in on him until he was completely trapped in a cocoon made of rock.

When Aloe finally found the courage to wander down after her Charge, she was horrified to see what appeared to be a rock tomb containing Goat, and a small, snoring Snapper dragon that would later be known as Diami. She carried the two of them up to one of the caves nearer to the surface and watched anxiously over the rock cocoon. Eventually, her waiting paid off, and the cocoon began breaking apart. First it revealed two sets of arms (which freaked Aloe out enough), then it showed a haggard, tiny face that was not Goat, but was Goat at the same time, for he had been changed into a Fae.

Working underground in Arcane's radioactive environment had changed Goat's colours, and being trapped in a rock cocoon for ages had changed his breed. Or rather, sort of changed his breed. As one would know with Arcane magic, successful breed changes are too much to ask for. Goat was more of a mutated Fae dragon, for he had sprouted an extra set of arms and wings, much like the Arcanist, and no matter how hard Aloe tries, she cannot get the rock gems that've grown into him off.

With his Charge to uncover Diami completed, Goat is perfectly content with the changes, especially since it gives him the ability to simultaneously read four books at once. Learning how to use his frills and fly with four wings might take some time, but he's chill with that too. He was a bit surprised to wake up from his rock cocoon to learn that he had inadvertently become the leader of a clan (and that a clan had popped up in the first place), but since Fading and Physalia run everything for him, he's not too bothered by the concept.
Goat can usually be seen around the lair with Aloe, trying out his new frills and wings or attempting some sort of new experiment. Having changed from the bulky body of a Guardian to the light one of a Fae tends to give one some flying problems, and the alchemists in the clan have learned to keep their brew covered in case he kamikaze dives into one of them, like last time. And the time before that. And the time before that. And -- okay, let's stop now.

Nobody knows if Goat knows that he has authority in the clan as the clan leader, but since he's not the one running things, nobody has bothered to clarify the fact for him. In the best case scenario, Goat knows and occasionally pitches in from the shadows to help out with clan affairs. In the worst case scenario, Goat is completely oblivious, and that's fine too.

Goat is currently fixated on the Fae Armada, his pride and joy. One day, it will be the most impressive military force in the world, with hundreds of well-oiled war machines answering the clan's beck and call with no holds barred. But for now, it's just a group of loosely collected Fae dragons floating about in giant lilypads, riding on mircrogoats and nesting themselves in tanks made out of paper origami and sticks.
