She's used to the looks she would get after telling them her name. She's used to them saying phrases along the lines of "Neerafae? What a funny name!" And deities forbid she meets an actual fae.

Sometimes, she would hear whispers from others wondering what kind of parents would name their hatchling like that. Of course, Neerafae knows she had no parents to name her after she had hatched, nor were they even there to witness her coming into the world. Her parents, travelers like her, fled and abandoned her and her older sister in the middle of the Tangled Wood after getting into the crossfires of a clan war. She hatched out of her egg right after they left.

However, when two dragons locked in combat stumbled across a grove with two sleeping hatchlings, they made a truce. Each dragon carried one hatchling back to their clan. Since then, Neerafae never saw her sister again.

She woke up in the middle of a clamorous discussion between the warrior and his clan leader. Upon being asked where he had found the hatchling, he said had found her near a fae of similar colors in the wood. Since she only heard the words "near a fae" while the dragon was pointing at her, she assumed her name was "Neerafae" and insisted it was so for the next few years, much to the clan's frustration.

Her days were spent exploring the clan lair's nearby surroundings, always being told never to wander far. She grew accustomed to the darkness that loomed about purple trees, and her only source of illumination being glowing blue mushrooms. Whenever she asked who her parents were, the clan would simply say they had died.

As time went on, she grew tired of these responses, yearning to know more about her parents' demise, family history, and who the fae she remembered seeing in her first moments was. And since the clan never bothered to have a library or barely even books of any kind, she had no clue what the rest of the world had in store. Her desire to explore only grew after she learned to fly.

Yet, they continued to turn her down with a single callous "no" before heading into another pointless battle. She has seen them make so many enemy clans do countless invasions on hers that the claw marks and splotches of dried blood she passed by on trees became a part of her normal life. Violence no longer fazed her.

Finally, she had enough. Taking advantage of each invasion, she would sneak into the clan hoard to steal a small sum of food, supplies, and treasure to put in her handmade travel bag. When she had gathered enough, she covered herself in branches and leaves before escaping into a moonless night.

After leaving the Wood for the first time in her life, she was shocked to discover the world around her little home had so much light. An endless expanse of land stretched out far into the horizon all around her. For the first time, she could actually see the unique territories dragons from the other flights dwelled in.

Unfortunately, her inexperience and lack of knowledge nearly led to her demise. Upon reaching the ever-spinning Twisting Crescendo, she underestimated the strength of the vortex. If it weren't for a wildclaw and imperial couple passing by from a journey in the Southern Icefield, Neerafae would've for sure been sucked into its raging winds.

Despite being saved, the experience left her unconscious for the next few days. It would've went against every moral the couple had to leave her there, so they took her with them back to their clan Rêves Infinis. From then on, she would return to the clan every once in a while bringing new information to add to the clan's library. It was her way to express her gratitude for the clan's couple that saved her life.

The day after joining the clan, she was approached by a lovely purple fae called The Goddess. When Neerafae was told of her mission, a renewed sense of hope flourished within her. The thought of being able to cease the violence she had grown up in so no one would ever half to experience it again seemed to good to be true. She chose to follow The Goddess, who gave her the job of spreading word of her arrival around Sorneith. She gladly accepted the mission bestowed upon her.
