And apparently not at all talented at riding meteors.

Caern is fairly distant from most of the clan and has been mute (or almost mute) since around the same time as Sibyl. However, he has an almost telepathic link with Io, and he has developed a friendship of sorts with Eklektika, despite the fact that they're very different in personality. They were drawn together after the CHRC's move to the Shifting Expanse, both (despite Caern's pretending otherwise) rather missing their meteorbombing jobs.

Nobody at the CHRC really knows about Caern's life before he joined. They also don't know that he is far older than they are.

Until the Center moved to the Shifting Expanse, Caern was a meteorbomber. However, he was picked for the job due to his 'Arcaneness' rather than his skill- his moody attitude and very clumsy meteor riding... definitely weren't helpful. After a particularly nasty crash, it was decided that he should split the load (note that he didn't give it up completely) with one of the younger dragons, Eklektika. Nobody says it, but everyone knows that somewhere in the back of his mind Caern sort of did enjoy it.

Caern also has duties as one of the Center's wizards and head of the Magic Department. He is currently collaborating with Noor, Io, and Ruth on the time machine project.
