One of the CHRC's four founders, Akatriel was a loner practicing a crude sort of alchemy in the Sunbeam Ruins before Llyr- then a wandering scholar- stumbled across him. Interest piqued by the knowledge shared with him, Asterion returned with Llyr to the Starfall Isles, where the two ran across and settled down with Greer and Ixitxachitl, forming a small study group that would grow to become the CHRC.

Asterion has a strong artistic streak and a particular knack for color that he expresses in many different ways, most notably in his elaborate sand paintings: naturally, his favorite Center locations have been in the Shifting Expanse.

Although intimidating in size and appearance, Asterion is remarkably gentle-natured and is known for his unfaltering honesty and unclouded observations (both in research and everyday life). Unruffled by uncertainty, he can keep these observations in memory without straining for conclusions: this is both a help and a hindrance, as relative lack of preconceptions helps him more easily see truth once he has enough information, but quick decision making isn't one of his strengths and he often second-guesses himself.

"Drops stuff in cauldrons, drops dead dragons into cauldrons, and teaches dead dragons how to drop stuff in cauldrons." That thing also happened.
