Notes:
-Alchemist
-Suffers experiment gone awry. Burns skin/scales leaving them pale and discolored. Odd opal-esque growths occur. The growths act as large single scales: hard and stiff yet look nice, however, given their stiffness and limiting his mobility, has left him flightless.
-Shad, for whatever reason, has made offhand jokes that heavily imply that the name he goes by is not his real name.

Notes:
Used to be a ridgeback but changed to guardian after debacle with Sorienth enterprise. This helped to hide his identity as he went into hiding. (maybe Feral changed his breed for the same reason?)
Shad was a troubled youth and caused havoc in his clan. Urged to pursue a career early on, Shad visited the plague fleet and studied biology and chemistry, quickly finding his calling (and coincidentally his charge) in chemical engineering, and eventually chemical warfare. Everyone has their secrets, even entire fleets, and while some more devious than others, plague’s secret was not ethically fundable (for a few reasons) by Sorienth’s government. Project WITHDRAWAL had been planned for a long while before Shad came along, but as stated by the project’s founder, “Everyone here is too incompetent to pursue such a project” so it was delayed.. (yadda yadda)

(A withdrawal is an offensive strategy whereby the “losing” party may retreat, drawing the other party into “home turf”.)

Project WITHDRAWAL was meant to stabilize Sorienth's atmosphere and land in order for dragons to return to it without the threat of beastclan (plague especially have a bad history and grudge with the beastclan?) Once the desired strain is developed, a fleet of ships are to be sent to Sorienth (presumably under the enterprise’s radar) to essentially wipe out the beastclan. Any dragons still residing there are seen as collateral damage and worth the quick execution of the plan.

As project WITHDRAWAL was nearing a milestone, the public got wind of Shad and his team’s work. Fearing public uproar, the council had to see to it that the rumours were false, or if they weren’t, the people involved be severely persecuted.

The project was promptly shut down

Hours upon hours of research down the drain, and on top of that, the representatives above him had used Shad as a scapegoat. The project’s concept was pinned on Shad and he was booted from the department. He was simultaneously disgraced and shunned for his work. The council was not left alone either however. They were shamed by the public for allowing for such a heinous project to go on without their knowledge. In an effort to please the public, the council wiped several areas of flight govern clean, effectively sweeping any other problems going on elsewhere, under the carpet.

-somethingsomething Shad disappears from the council's sight as old business partners from project WITHDRAWAL start to go missing. He believes that they were being silenced in an effort to keep any parts of the government out of the spotlight.
