A few months after the arrival, Nyxa gets herself into a dispute a way from the canyon. She wins, obviously, those Chimera troublemakers never stood a chance once she got going - but, as she staggers back towards headquarters, the gash on her chest dripping crimson, she considers that maybe she should have been a little more careful.
By the time Nyxa reaches camp, she is almost spent - and to top it all off, she suddenly remembers that the dragons she would usually go to for aid are all away on a business trip (that's why she had been out alone in the first place) and the only folks around are...
'What in the spires happened to you?'

The voice comes from the pale dragoness of her own species who leads the coven that has taken up residence with them - Frostflower, Nyxa thinks her name is, though she can't say she's really spoken to her since their first encounter. Not many in their clan really trust the witches yet.
'It's nothing.' She growls as she attempts to push past the witch, who moves to block her way.
'Well considering you're currently creating a very red puddle, I'd say its definitely something,'
Frostflower's tone softens,
'just let me take a look at it. It really wouldn't be great if you died while your boss was away.'
Nyxa appreciates the matter of fact-ness.

She lets herself be lead towards the aid roo- no, they're heading towards an opening in the canyon walls. Different.
The cave is mostly bare but for a few rugs and blankets, and Frostflower settles on these, beckoning Nyxa to do the same. She allows the pale one to get a better look at the wound, surprisingly gentle claws brushing across it, stopping when she winces. At that point, Frostflower closes her eyes for a second, and when she opens them a soft cyan light fills the room, the colour of lightning. It's beautiful
Nyxa realises, when she properly looks, that the witch is quite beautiful herself.

Nyxa dies. Frostflower fixes her. She dies again. And again. By the third time, she's pretty sure it's not just her wife's magic working overtime. The fourth time, the Lightweaver's mark begins to shine bright and bold on her scales, and she knows her father's god has given her this - perhaps as recompense for taking him as she did.
