The first thing Spud knew of Jehanne's arrival in the lair was stumbling over Pickles, Chrysaor and Hypatia digging a gigantic pit in a completely new extension to the Observatory space. Pickles was immediately overcome with a fit of coughing1 while Chrysaor began cheerfully explaining what plants he planned to request from Phalane's assistants.

Next up was the smell. While nodding and pretending to understand why Chrysaor was apparently making another swamp habitat - there were already three, Spud was sure, she'd helped plant all of them - Spud couldn't help noticing that the large space was, well. Whiffy. And not in a why-does-Pickles-keep-eating-those-kebabs way, it smelt like low tide on the edge of the Wandering Contagion, only worse.

spoilers: is the toridae. has a giant pink bow around its neck. Jehanne thinks she is wonderful and dotes on the creature. The thing is so big, bad-tempered and vicious it needs a swamp of its own, and fawns and begs for tidbits from Jehanne but won't let anyone or anything else close. When Jehanne informs a flabbergasted Spud that it's named Bonbon Pickles almost chokes herself trying to keep her laughter in.
