Ranefer likes hearing about colours. He'd ask you the colour of your eyes, the colour of the sky, or maybe the colour of a potted plant. He could see just fine with his infrared light vision, but his 'normal eyes' are blind. He never complains though. It's just one more reason to use to strike a conversation with strangers (or pester his friends with.)

As a hatchling, he was found by a wandering acolyte and brought back to the Mirrorlight Promenade to be a pupil. But once they arrived, the clear skies and the sun were too harsh on his sensitive hatchling eyes (not to mention he was used to the Wasteland's grey sky). It was equivalent to a direct hit with bright bolt to the eyes, instantly blinding one set of his. It mattered little, as he was too young and too happy to have a pack to care about the handicap.
