Arokh holds the coveted position of prime consort to the clan's matriarch, Teiwaz. He won the position more by virtue of his strength in battle than his lovely feathers, but it's agreed that the two, in their shining golden armor, make a splendid pair. However, he bears her no love, taking the 'honor' mostly for the power and status it brings him, and to avoid the unpleasantness of having to say no. In truth, he sees the Matriarch as a tyrant more than a lover, whose fanatic loyalty to the Flamecaller has made her bent on conquering all lesser flights in the deity's name. However, he too is loyal to his deity and his flight, even if not to the extreme degree she is. He may not like it much, but if his Matriarch's will mirrors that of his deity, then he will bow to it and serve however he must to carry it out. Despite being a powerful batlemage, Arokh prefers peace to fighting. He has made it clear, when challenged by those who think his preference for peace is out of fear and weakness, that it is neither, refusing to back down or be intimidated. Although, when there is a nonviolent option, that's the path he prefers to take. It's a stark contrast to the war-like mentality of the rest of the clan, where eagerness for battle and bravery are both flaunted and encouraged. In spite of all this, when the clan is in peril Arokh dons his armor and takes to battle, showing the skill that first caught his Matriarch's eye. Out of battle, his skills are mostly used under the command of Adralnys to keep the clan's borders and territories safe, or to bring much needed food to the clan. In his free time, although there is less and less these days, he likes nothing more than to relax with his closest friends, Eltrys and Valkin, and a jug of fermented potash peach juice. |
