Whether a blessing or a curse from the Plaguebringer, Apoptosis is named for the fact that all of her cells except for those in contact with bone inexplicably self destruct once the sun has set each day. They return out of almost nowhere with the dawn of the new day, leaving her as she was before albeit sometimes with fewer friends. She keeps herself isolated from the clan in fear of rejection.
