Enduring Goblin
10/14/16 Feelings of pride began to succumb to inklings of doubt. She peered at her reflection in the bubbling nest, gazing through the sheen of the glowing egg. She had been staring at it and in turn herself for days now, and perhaps the monotony was getting to her-- but it was just one, just one lowly egg. Where were her clutches of five? Her legions of germs to be exalted to Mother? She was suddenly sheepish and felt very small. She clenched her egg tighter. The sting of inadequacies, the fear of defeat, these things never lingered long in the minds of Plague denizens. There were more productive thoughts to be had. Complacency and woe were the death of progress. All great plagues had to start from one germ after all.

10/16/16 First offspring born. Male named "Grub." He wriggled and rolled without a croak, just like a beetle larva would.

10/17/16 The hunting ground of the Plague dragons, and even more so the Plague Mirror dragons, was not a specific location. When hungry, as Mirrors often were, they could take off into the tendrils with little to no provocation. Their secondary set of eyes functioned like the heat pits of a viper and were used to detect both the heat signature and size of prey. Just as eyesight or smell, it was not a sense that could be turned "off" and thus it was not unusual to see a group of Mirrors lying listlessly on a pile of bones only to have them snap to attention and take off across the Wasteland after something unseen. It was a chilling sight. Once honed onto a target, they pursued it relentlessly, automatized and without empathy.

For the longest time, Bonejack's lesser clan, oddly enough, only consisted of two adult Mirror dragons, the young Arcane Dragon, Teagarden and Bonejack himself. It was therefore these two that were continually coming and going from the nesting grounds with aggressive motion and never a word, ceaselessly on the prowl for more food. The constant rushing about was initially off putting to the various species of hatchlings that had come to call The Cell their home, and at first the young ones lived with a high degree of stress not knowing what to make of the excitement that characterized all hours of day and night; Mirror dragons did not sleep as deeply as other species of dragon, after all. Further, the alpha female, Carulata, offered little explanation or breath of comfort. Tundra dragons may not have been known for their insight or conversation, but it was her silent, unperturbed nature that did eventually put the clan at ease, and they grew to accept the constant state of high alert on part of the Mirrors.

10/26/16 Carulata and Bonejack's second clutch was three eggs strong. Three more dragons to exalt to Mother. Nothing could be more gratifying than contributing to such purpose. Carulata reflected wistfully on the witch that had blessed their clan; they could barely call themselves a clan, it was more of a family unit at the time with she, Bonejack, three hatchlings, and Teagarden yet such a bright sign befell them. This was surely proof of the witch's boon. Ever since she had come, The Cell had nothing but luck and growth.

10/31/16 Nest hatched. Two males and a female: Lock, Shock, and Barrel

11/15/16 Nest hatched. Two males and a female: Fester, Wednesday, and Lurch

11/22/16 The most recent clutch of hatchlings had grown into fuzzy, dark owl-like creatures. Bonejack had brokered plans for them to be trained under the guidance of Outfit Vector in order to better serve Mother. Outfit Vector was a wealthy clan of fighters and traders led by a deeply religious Mirror who served the Plaguebringer in a way which Bonejack could only strive to emulate. Carulata beamed with pride as she thought of her hatchlings dancing across the battlefield with the finesse of a warrior. One day, The Cell would be powerful enough to raise such soldiers. Today she could only see her grown children off with dreams of their future conquests.

11/28/16 The hunting party had come home with an unusual souvenir: an unhatched fire egg. The usually rough and tumble Mirrors somehow managed to carry the specimen all the way back to The Cell's nesting grounds, however, after turning it over and moving it from nest to nest, Carulata rejected the egg. Perhaps when the clan was new the egg would have been readily accepted, incubated, and hatched in order to bolster The Cell's population, but today something paramount seemed to occur, something that signified the dragons' developing maturity as a clan. Later that day, the egg was traded to another clan for gold and the gold, in turn, offered to the Plaguebringer for more territory for their resident dragons.
