Antafes
Clan Founder * Warden
A glimpse - The big Guardian lying lazily in a patch of sunlight on the clearing slowly opened his eyes. He was staring rather annoyed across the clearing to a circle of old withered standing stones where a group of dragons were gathered and arguing loudly. He never understood why his mate Fahlyn had insisted on a council to rule their Clan. If it had been up to him, it would have been a straight hierarchy. But her vision for that once ruined and desolated place had been different, and after all he felt more inclined to guarding and defending their Clanmates than governing them. He had been offered a seat on the Clan’s council, but firmly declined. The only condition he had had was that in times of militant danger, he would be in charge. She had seen the sense in it. After all, she was a prudent and wise dragon, especially for her age and breed. Her guidance of the Clan was perceptive and farseeing. And he admired her for that. But now, it was time to act and not to discuss. Ever since Haru and Thalia had arrived, weary and terrified of what had happened to their Clan, he had known that a conflict with that cocky and brutal Serthis Clan was imminent. It was a question of when, not if they attacked. There was only one way, attack them first, determining the conditions and catch them by surprise. But of course, such things had to be discussed first. He snorted impatiently. At least, he and the Clan’s Wardens had already established basic defenses, both magic and conventional, and a perimeter had been set. They would not be caught by surprise as Haru’s Clan had been. That sleek coatl was now arguing rather fiercely for a first strike against the Serthis who had annihilated his previous Clan. Maybe he had underestimated him. He was looking all smug and clean with his brilliant rose plumage but there was a fire burning inside of him. That was good. Most likely what had kept him and his mate Thalia alive when all around them had perished. The Clan needed fierce fighters. Surprised, he noticed that the sick coatl also supported Haru’s point of view. At first, he had been against sheltering these sick and dying creatures. But the Council had granted them shelter. And evermore were coming. Their numbers were growing steadily, but in contrast to his prior concerns they pulled their weight rather than becoming one for the healthy members of the Clan. There even were some decent fighters amongst them. Maybe they would prove to be a worthy addition after all. Of course, that babbler Tiranu had reservations about attacking the beastclan first, he was all about preserving things but not such much for keeping them save. And the priestess was bound to be cautious. At least the scout and that new researcher had sided with Haru, too. He knew that his mate would, in due course. He yawned and shut his eyes again. It would take some more time for them to come to a decision. Until they did, he decided to enjoy the warm sunshine on his back until it was time for him to patrol the perimeter again.

Origins - Antafes firmly believes that the Gladekeeper herself has ignited the spark of life in him. He doesn’t recall any parents or even much of his youth. The one thing he remembers is wandering the Gladeveins, driven by a powerful urge to find his charge. When he finally found the crumbling ruins of the Forgotten Sanctuary, he knew instantly that he had found it. A warm sensation spread through his chest and he felt complete.

Personality - Antafes is a rather stoic dragon, reserved and introverted. But he is also the trusted leader of the Clan’s other Wardens and - in times of war- the Clan’s combat forces. If his charge or mate or any dragon he sees as his protégé (which is basically every member of the Clan) are in danger, that stoic dragon changes to a furious force of nature. Nothing will stand in his way.

Mate - The mirror Fahlyn is his beloved mate. He found her wandering the Sanctuary one day and instantly fell for the slender mirror female. They both founded the Clan together. Though they sometimes disagree how the Clan should be leaded, they value each other’s opinions.

Clan Role - Antafes is the Clan’s lead Warden. The others sometimes call him Warden of the Standing Stones as the old and withered ring of stones lies at the very heart of the Forgotten Sanctuary. These stones are the spiritual and magical center of the Sanctuary and he is the Sanctuary’s first and most powerful Guardian. As the Clan grew, other Dragons were drawn to this ancient place. Amongst them, other Guardians as himself. They soon formed a small group within the Clan, known as The Wardens, each guarding and protecting another crucial place or access point into the Clan’s territory. Though some challenged his right to leadership, he effortlessly put them back into their place. Now, they are a tight-knight group and everyone reports to him.
