Morvyn could taste the metallic flavor of blood in his mouth, smelled the fear of his snake-like opponent and the sound of screaming, growling and hissing thumped in his ears. He had never felt more alive. As the battle raged on around him, the world shrank and time seemed to slow down. He could make out every spatter of blood on his foe’s skin, saw the white in his eyes as they widened in fear and pain. The Serthis warrior thrusted his spear at him in desperation, his other hand clutching a deep wound in his abdomen. But blood kept gushing out of it, the wound was deep. Morvyn leapt aside, avoiding the tip of the spear and an evil smile twisted his lips. He could have killed the Serthis with one well-aimed bite but he loved to play with his prey. He enjoyed the look of terror on his face as he realized that there was no escape. Death was certain. It was their own foolishness that had brought them here. Recent victories had made them cocky, and now they would learn a lesson. If anybody was left alive to speak of this day. Suddenly, he felt a sharp pain in his leg. Hissing, he jerked round and snapped angrily at the spear of another Serthis warrior. Damned snakes, he thought and forgetting all self-restraint, he lunged at the warrior who had injured him. He died a quick death. Morvyn could feel the blood streaming down his leg. It was only a small cut, but the wound kept bleeding. And it would for quite some time. He had to be more careful. Silently cursing his illness, he turned around to face his previous opponent but he lay already dead on the ground. A beautiful male coatl with bright pink wings now soiled with blood, stood over the corpse. “He was mine!” Morvyn hissed angrily and he could feel the rage boiling up inside him. Nobody took away his prey. The other coatl raised his head and looked at him intently. “Calm down, friend. He was trying to put his spear into your back. You’ve got to be more careful.” Morvyn knew he was right somewhere deep within his conscious mind, but that could not calm him down. The thrill of the fight had a tight grip on him and he was shaking with anger. He could feel the rage boiling his blood. With an immense effort, he dragged himself away from the other dragon and lunged at … something else. As he sunk his teeth into another Serthis’ warm flesh, ripping furiously with his claws at the protective armor, he slowly realized how close he had come to attacking his best and only friend.

Character & friends - Morvyn has a temper. He is not very friendly or outgoing but rather keeps to himself. Even in the small but growing community of the other sick coatls in the Forgotten Sanctuary. The Sickness has not yet crippled his body, though he is a hemophiliac and suffers from severe joint paints as well as violent fits. Rumor has it that the Sickness has affected his mind though nobody tells him that to his face. His temper is short, he is prone to violent outbursts and his self-control is often inadequate, but he has not seriously hurt anyone (yet). He likes to hunt, especially Beast Clan prey, and fight, which is not wise given the nature of his illness. But he says it eases his mind, gives him joy and a purpose in life. He is often accompanied by his one and only friend, Haru, a coatl who has lost his previous clan, home and very nearly his beloved mate to a Serthis attack. They are an unlikely pairing, the beautiful Haru with his bright sleek feathers and the dull-colored Afflicted who is always wrapped in bloody bandages. But they are a harmonious team, one of the Clan’s best scouts and hunters.

Symptoms - Blood disorder (hemophiliac), joint paints (arthritis, inflammation), epilepsy, impulsive control disorder (anger management issues)
