Shadow Walkers
NOTES
To anyone looking in from the outside, it seems that Shadowspark found herself an unlikely home among thieves, fighters, and liars. She was originally drawn to the creed in part to the stories of the researching and studies being conducted on the art of magic by a dragon named Shadowdancer. Shadowspark had experience with magic, particularly black magic. She could conjure shades, seek information from the spirits, and create hex bags to protect her family from unwanted attention. Her field of magic was of particular interest to Shadowdancer and after Shadowspark gained approval and was accepted into the creed the two immediately started forming a bond what would transform into something larger. Their relationship took some time to begin. Shadowdancer was a dignified, professional, curious researcher. As much as he wanted to study and learn about Shadowspark's art he needed to respect her space and wait until she was prepared to approach him. This process took a while since Shadowspark had just joined the creed and for her form of practice, she needed particular items for her spells to work. Settling into her den required time to set up and shape into her own space. Candlelight guides you through the space and allows for dim-lighted reading sessions. She quickly learned the importance of keeping her art and her practical life separated. Visitors often balked at the sight of her witchcraft, afraid of what it was only because they didn't understand it. She usually practiced her spells and chants at night at the back of her den, her magic holding the most power with the night. Thankfully this was also the time at which many of the thieves would be out using their skills and the more respected dragons were asleep in their dens. She continued her basic spells and after a conversation with Shadowdancer with inquiries about contacts for supplies she gradually grew comfortable with her set up. After numerous weeks of what could only be considered avoidance and uncertainty, Shadowspark and Shadowdancer finally sustained a casual conversation during a random run-in one day. Normal questions eventually turned into inquiries before turning into stories. This was the conversation that changed Shadowspark's understand of Shadowdancer's work. As soon as she learned of his reason, his methods and his dedication did the wall finally began to crumble. Since Shadowspark was one of the first dragons to dabble in magic their teacher-student relationship was close and remains unique to this day. To record the different arts of magic one must learn the rules, basics and gain an overall foundation of the practice. Shadowspark began by teaching Shadowdancer the basics. Spells were never mentioned in the basic lessons.The rules, techniques, attitude, supplies, and results are all discussed and recorded. The lessons between the pair continue as spells are recorded and practiced and more spells are discovered through research. Despite the success of the research, the use of black magic affects the user's emotions, reportedly turning them impatient, moodier, prone to anger, occasionally depressed, and overall with a drive for isolation. To counteract the effects of her using the spells Shadowspark began dabbling in the art of medicine, particularly with herbs. She had enough in stock for spells that medicinal use wouldn't look out of place in the dimly lit den. Living among thieves and fighters offer enough subjects for her to try her new practice and soon many began to consider her a witch doctor. Despite her continued assurance that no black magic was tied to her remedies none can omit the fact that in the dead of night she still speaks with the dead and continues to explore new spells. Through their working relationship, Shadowspark and Shadowdancer saw enough of each other that gradually the little quirks and subtle details of their personality brought the two together. The love between the pair began as a shy, tentative feeling but has now blossomed into undying gratitude for the other. Shadowspark still has her own den but she only uses it for her spells and healing, having moved in with Shadowdancer at his request. Although journals litter the tables and shelves it's the dedicated messes that keep the pair happy.
