Biography

Anxiety Blooms
She's changed her name, or rather, she thinks she changed her name. She's not sure. All she
knows is that as a hatchling, she was white. As a hatchling, she was curious. As a hatchling, she strayed away from her clan following a cute young dryad and never found her way home.
She doesn't remember much from when she was young. The Shrieking Wilds took her memories
and her innocence. Maybe that's why her body turned a darker color. Her name, she believes, was Lily, but by the time she found her way out of the jungle, she was neither sure nor felt that it fit her. In attempt to keep some semblance of a past, she named herself Calla, after a darker, curled in lily.
Calla isn't quite sure how she became the leader of her clan. She assumes it's because she was
the first dragon in the Lesser Lair, but her mate, Foxglove, would be much better suited to the job and has been here almost as long as she has. Calla is very soft-spoken and reserved, curled in on herself like the lily she's named after. Foxglove is the only dragon she's opened up to, even her offspring don't know much about her.
The other dragons say she gives good advice. And she does, but she's not sure how. She feels
as if the Shrieking Wilds scrambled her brains; to this day she gets anxious if there's too much noise from too many different sources.
Calla is a sweetheart, she doesn't feel like a leader so she helps with foraging and cooking when
things aren't too crowded and she's always willing to lend an ear to any dragon who needs to talk. When presented with leadership tasks, she's always a little surprised but never refuses to act on them. One of the biggest tasks she has is dealing with dragons that wander into the Lesser Lair. She doesn't mind this task at all and never turns away any being, whether they're just passing through or needing a home.
As her clan has always been relatively peaceful, she's never had an issue too big to deal with,
but her clan mates have faith in her and believe she could rise to any occasion. She's not so sure, but Foxglove has told her many a time that whatever happens, he'll be there for her and she believes him. He's been there for her through everything she can remember. And so with him by her side, Calla believes that she'll be okay. She knows she'd be okay without him too-she's a lot tougher than her clan mates know after surviving so much time on her own and in territory that no dragon has seen before-but his presence is calming, reassuring to a dragon who has known too many years of uncertainty.

The First Silence
Confusion. That’s all I’ve ever known. That’s all I will know. The noise, too much noise. Can’t
think, can’t breathe.
My eyelids fluttered rapidly and my heart rate, which I had finally gotten back to normal,
increased again. The static in my brain started in, flight or fight response threatening to take over. I stumbled in the direction of the setting sun like I did every evening, trying so hard to find something that wasn’t-
Noise, too much noise. Run, you’re going to die, run.
I blindly ran, hyperventilating and entirely unaware of anything but my impending doom. Anxiety
flooded through me and somewhere in the back of my mind there was something telling me that there was no threat and that I should calm down and analyze the situation. But the static filling my head and the noise from all around me made it impossible for me to concentrate.
Then suddenly, nothing. There was no excess noise, only the static that slowly dissipated into
normal, coherent thoughts. I looked behind me to see that I had left the dense wilderness behind me awhile ago. The dense wilderness that was all I had ever known.
How long had I been there? My memories were vague, anything before the noise was blurry
at best. My legs trembled and the realization that I had run extremely far caved in on me and I collapsed. There was a ringing in my ears, but compared to the noise I had finally left behind me, it was nothing. Though I still felt a strange discomfort, I fell into a deep sleep.
I jolted awake, terrified, on guard, sure I was under attack. It was… quiet. I had never in my life
heard such silence. I stood up, looking back at the overgrown trees in the distance. I wanted to get further away from that place.
“Oh good, you’re up.”
I jumped, panic flooding through me immediately and static started to trickle into my head
again.
“Hey, it’s okay, I’m not going to hurt you.”
I turned around slowly. Something stood a couple feet from me. Something big. Something
familiar.
“A dragon.” I breathed, slowly relaxing.
“Uh, yeah. I’m Foxglove. And you are?”
I didn’t know. I could barely remember that there was a language other than overwhelming
noise.
“I-“ I paused, the other dragon looking at me expectantly. A memory stabbed through my senses
so quickly that when it passed, I was only left with a feeling. A whisper.
“I’m Lily.” I said softly, then “No, that’s not right…”
“Are you okay?” the other dragon, Foxglove, asked.
“I don’t… remember.” I replied. “Lily,” I repeated to myself. “Lily? Calla lily… Calla”
]“Calla? Your name is Calla?” Foxglove said. I nodded. “Is this your lair?”
“Uhm, no. No, I don’t think so. I came from there.” I motioned to the terrible place I’d finally
escaped.
“Oh, do you want me to help you find your way back?”
“No!” Foxglove jumped, and I felt bad, but there was no way I was returning to that horrid place.
“I-I’m sorry.” I whispered, shying away from him. “I’m going to…” I realized I didn’t know what I was going to do. But Foxglove asking if this was my lair struck a need in me to find one.
“I… I’m going to make a lair.” I said.
“Mind if I join?” he asked.
I was unsure. I didn’t know how to behave around other dragons. But I didn’t know how to say
no, so I nodded.
“I’ll find you. I’m going to bring food to the lair, is that okay?”
I nodded again. He turned and unfurled his wings. I watched him fly away for a moment, before
making sure I was walking in the exact opposite direction as I came from.
Just when it was getting dark, I stumbled across a beautiful, quiet clearing with a water source.
This is it. This will be my lair. I wandered over to get a drink, then sat and surveyed the land. I had just started figuring out where I could build my den when I heard a rustle and felt my heart rate rise. But when I turned, it was Foxglove. He dropped insects at my feet and then settled in to eat a fish he’d caught.
“Aren’t you going to eat those?” he asked. I nodded shyly, and began to eat.

For the first time in my entire life, I didn’t feel anxious.

(It took ages to format this haha aaaa. probably gonna add that she's a skittish healer whose time lost helped her know what plants have healing properties but she sends her son out to gather because she's afraid she'll get lost again)
