Biography
An amalgamation of the lost dreams stolen during one of Sornieth's darkest nights.
With a starburst of light, something that never should've happened came to be. As several intruders ripped into a world previously untouched by even the concept of a physical form, energy from the extradimensional plane coalesced into something monstrous. The strange, alien beauty of the world of dreams could not, after all, be properly expressed by anything in Sornieth.
As it was, it took on the form of the most beautiful thing it could see. The starry night sky. Disoriented by the sudden change, it took stock of its surroundings. Tall, dark tree trunks surrounded it on every side, lit only by the stars above and the gently glowing shrooms peeking out from below. In a daze, it sent many portions of itself roaming and fumbling around, mindlessly seeking out some portal, some manner in which to return and set things right.
Stumbling forward, one piece, and then several, ran into the night, colliding with all manner of intelligent life. Beings it had visited and played with during the dead of night. Overjoyed, it lumbered forwards.
Why do they back away? Why do they run?
Shrieks, screaming, the feeling of being rent asunder from shoulder to navel. Something a creature of the stars should never have felt. One by one, each piece was caught and ripped to shreds, leaving nothing but twinkling sand in its wake.
In the span of a week, there was only one left. One lonely, wretched being. Having lost the companionship only other parts of itself could provide, it set off on a journey to memorialise its fallen brethren.
For this, I must have wings.
And wings sprouted from its formless body - wings as gorgeous as the rising moon came forth, to carry it above the highest peaks and the deepest valleys.
I shall have need of limbs - strong, sturdy legs to carry me where I cannot fly.
And slowly, hesitantly, the being tested the four spindly legs it had created. Wobbling, crashing, it took a moment to remember what those who had attacked it looked like. As the ends split into toes and claws, it dug them in, as if to lay claim to the earth it stood on.
I require a vessel. One in which to cherish my fallen friends.
With a quick search of the area, it found that nothing was to its satisfaction. Leaves were too small. Mushroom caps would decay. Tree stumps would be eaten through by termites. And none of them could be carried around with oneself. And so, with all of its will, the being created a hollow chamber within itself; one in which to carry its own remains.
And lastly, I desire a face.
