xxxxxxxIt was horror incarnate.

xxxxxxxThe atrium where warriors used to wait for orders had collapsed. His father had went inside to search for their mother.

xxxxxxx‘I have to find her. She needs to know where we are going!’ – He said. Iddras kept staring at the direction he disappeared to, rubble and dust everywhere.

xxxxxxxThe atrium collapsed, his father was still inside, perhaps his mother too.

xxxxxxx“I’m scared! Where is papa?!” – Sveta asked, coughing from the cloud of dust and destruction.

xxxxxxx“Stay here! Don’t move!” – He said, leaving her beneath the archway where their father had left them twenty minutes ago. Not too far from there, he heard a roar so loud he had to cover his ears. The atrium had collapsed when the emperor stepped on it and it laid bare in ruins, rocks everywhere.

xxxxxxx“Dad!” – He screamed, coughed, screamed again. – “Dad, where are you?! Mom!”

xxxxxxxThat was his mother’s tail, black ringlets markings giving straight to a huge pile of rocks. No… Was she… Was she under it? Had she been crushed? He moved closely and there was no way she could be… He pulled a rock and another.

xxxxxxx“Iddras!” – He heard someone call him. Brightfeather, one of the leaders of the guard, with cream feathers a darkened red, from blood maybe. – “Where is your sister?!”

xxxxxxx"My parents are here!” – He screamed, moved another rock.

xxxxxxx“Where is Sveta?!” – The coatl approached him.

xxxxxxx“She’s outside!”

xxxxxxx“You left your sister alone?!” – The coatl yelled at him, coming close.

xxxxxxx“Please, they may still be alive! They might be breathing!” – The pushed a huge rock with all his strength, a might he didn’t know where it had come from. The gigantic boulder rolled away.

xxxxxxxThere were the mangled and bloodied remains of his mother, head crushed, no face to discern but he knew her markings, her colors… The turquoise feathers, the white wings, the black marks. Right underneath her, was his father, torso pierced by a metal beam. He died looking for her, and she died protecting him.

xxxxxxxIddras fell back. Blinked. No sound came to his ears but he could tell Brightfeather said something. He watched in silence as the atrium trembled and the ground shook. Was the emperor returning? Staring at him had been his father’s dead eyes in the dark blue, until Brightfeather closed them with a gentle touch. He watched the coatl collected something, a grimoire.

xxxxxxxThe coatl picked him up. He was light, not a hatchling anymore but still so, so far from being an adult dragon. The coatl put him on the floor just outside the atrium.

xxxxxxx“Lad!” – He looked at the coatl calling to him. “Lad! Where did you leave your sister?!”

xxxxxxx“By… The waterfall arch.” – He said and the coatl handed him the grimoire, taking her hat off and placing on Iddras’ head.

xxxxxxx“Where did you father tell you to go?” – She asked with a gentler tone.

xxxxxxx“S-Sea?”

xxxxxxx“Sea of a Thousand Currents?” – The coatl asked and nodded. – “Good. Don’t stop until you get there, go as far from Hewn City as you can.”

xxxxxxx“Brightfeather…” – Was all Iddras said, the coatl hugged him.

xxxxxxx“Take Sveta and don’t stop until you reach the sea, do you understand? She’s your responsibility now. You have to take care of her.”

xxxxxxx“But…”

xxxxxxx She held Iddras by his shoulder and gave him a reassuring nod, while the young spiral cried.

xxxxxxx“Brightfeather, please don’t go…”

xxxxxxx“I have to search for the others. Be strong, Iddras! Once this horror is over, I’ll find you both. I’ll meet you both at the Sea of a Thousand Currents. Now be brave! Take Sveta and go! Now!”– The coatl said and with that another roar echoed.

xxxxxxxMaybe the creature was drawing near, or far, he couldn’t tell. He approached Sveta.

xxxxxxx“Where is mom and dad?!”

xxxxxxx"We have to go!” – He tried picking her up but she fought back.

xxxxxxx“No! Dad said we have to wait here!” – She yelled and started crying, perhaps understanding what was happening.

xxxxxxx"No, Sveta! We have to go, now!” – She fought back as he picked her off the ground with as many as the belongings their father separated as he could. All the things he could carry: his father’s alchemy grimoire, his mother’s satchel, Brightfeather’s cap and Sveta, no matter how much she tried to escape.

xxxxxxxHe took flight. The Sea.

xxxxxxxThey had to reach the Sea.

xxxxxxx“Caju!”

xxxxxxxIddras started to wake up.

xxxxxxx“Caju, I found her brother! He’s right here!” – A coatl said, waking him up. – “Hey little guy, what happened to your wings?”

xxxxxxx“Brightf… M-my sister…”

xxxxxxx“She’s safe with my partner.”

xxxxxxxIddras looked up, the coatl was not Brightfeather for Brightfeather's blue eyes were a different hue. This coatl had bright blue eyes, blue like the water of warm tropical waters, so different from Brightfeather's deep dark hues. But it was still blue like his, like Brightfeather's, like Sveta’s, like their father’s.

xxxxxxx“Are we… At the sea?”

xxxxxxx“Aye, lad.” – The coatl picked him up. “Don’t worry, you’re safe. As far from the Emperor as you can get without crossing water.”

xxxxxxxIddras still held on to the grimoire, the cap, the satchel.

xxxxxxx“Where…?”

xxxxxxx“We’re on a seaside merchant town. We are taking you two to Porto.”

Work
Lonesome and recluse.
Works at the Apothecarium in a huge alchemy lab and is the resident Alchemist, although he doesn't provide the materials, only the magic and the chemistry.
Seldom leaves his laboratory, despite having an actual house.
Throws blue and white confetti without changing his deadpan expression as he says 'Science prevails or something'. Takes a while but always get the job done.

Relationships
Sveta's older brother, they don't get along too well and he avoids her and Signe as much as he can. Still hasn't realised Andras is in love with him. Kind of friends with Solveig, not sure how that happened. What is a familiar anyways?

Personality
26 human years old. Incredibly shy and meek, yet very hopeful. He looks forward to getting better. Still clings to his past and his life in the Mirrorlight Promenade. A bit of a jerk at times, clearly a coping mechanism. Collects mementos from his old clan, the Erinyes of Radiance. Bribing him with good food is a sure way of making him step out of his lab.

Arrival at Porto
The siblings flied for as long as they could, until their wings tired and then a little more. They'd sleep for a few hours and fly more. No precise place where they were going other than 'the sea'. When they both had no more strength they collapsed on a strand of white sand where the Sunbeam Ruins met the Sea of a Thousand Currents.

There, they were found by Clan Scouts Caju and Juca, and brought in. The emperor was far behind and flights were getting together to stop it. They were taken in and told to take their time recovering but never left.

Head Alchemist
Porto was in dire need for an alchemist and Iddras was almost a graduated alchemist, after learning the craft from their father. He became the resident alchemist as a means to clear back the debt he and his sister made from their medical expenses. He's considered a great alchemist, unfortunately, still plagued by the image of the mangled remains of their parents, Iddras will often... Doze off and take a long time to get orders done. All in Porto understand, of course, he takes a bit longer than someone on their right mind would, but he gets it done.

Iddras ultimately settled quite nicely with the rest of the Helgardr Keep dragons as they're quiet, sensible and never make complicated questions. He gets along quite well with Solveig, and he'll often seek her out when he's forced to attend clan-wide events, usually with Andras' at his side.

He is rad, and the ringlets make him look like he is tattooed! Love it. He's got some great artwork, and a neat accent, and his lore was a very interesting (if sad) read! His familiar is a good color match, and I think there's a scene that would go well with him, too (Shoreline something).

Daily life
But on a daily basis, he spends most of his day completely recluse on his laboratory, and often forgets to get back to his den altogether. Andras and Solveig are the only ones who will come over to see him outside working hours, and he also gets sporadic visits from Sveta. His relation with his sister decayed badly after their escape. Both unable to cope, Sveta will often question if he really did everything he could to save their parents. Andras and Signe play the role of mediators, keeping them apart. Iddras could do really well without her coming to bother him. Deep inside, he is still waiting for Brightfeather to come join them in Porto, even though it's been more than ten years since they parted ways.

Andras is his closest friend and Iddras feels like he is the dragon who makes him the happiest on all Sornieth. Unfortunately he is still going through the process of recovery or he would be able to realise that what Andras feels towards him is more than just friendship. Poor guy just can't get a clue, but honestly, nobody blames him, not even his soon-to-be mate.
