Ever since the death of her brother, Matilda has remained in a zombie like state, her one track mind circling him like a hungry vulture. Kinath's death predates the Kidnapping, which happened a very long time ago (Sep 18, 2018, irl).

With blind hopes, Matilda sought out the teachings of magic. But not just any magic, one of the darkest magics of them all. Necromancy. She begged and pleaded the universe for it not to be too late to save her brother. But alas, she was right. Kinath was long gone, never to return to this world.

Or perhaps not, as the the theory about souls, that Matilda chooses to believe, is that there are a finite number of them. As soon as something dies, it's soul is immediately transferred to it's next body. It doesn't matter which species the soul belonged to, the soul goes to whatever is born at the exact moment it died. But ghosts are the souls that got delayed, also causing a still born.

She learn this through a forbidden book, one thought to be lost to time it's self. One that many had rallied together to destroy, only to fail at it's undying protective magic. The book she had merely stumbled upon while aimlessly sifting through the silt banks of the river that ran near Aumnithina. The Triskaidekan Necronomicon.

Despite her brother's definitive loss, Matilda continued her studies and practices, willed on by all the terrible pain forced upon her, by each and every moment of her brother's absence. Perhaps she could use these skills in the future, to save young hatchlings from the death of their mother or something along those lines.

And she did. Auminthina was struck with sad news, two of their closest friends, and founding dragons had passed away on the battle field. This was mostly just sad for the elders of the clan, who knew the once lively and helpful pair. Since Todd and Ruby left Auminthina before it was even named. But another dragon had turned up from their grief. A battle mage who once served in the army that belong to Cetl, an honoured warlord of the Fortress Of Ends.

Pride came expressing his sorrows for the loss of Todd and Ruby. But had spoken to Shade privately. Of course, Matilda had to eves drop. So came into the conversation very late, but just in time to hear that Pride was with them when they died. He said that in a desperate attempt to save them, he cast a spell so horrific that it was even outlawed in Cetl's militant army.

A soul trap. He trapped their souls, inside crystals. That spell was illegal pretty much everywhere, the souls were inflicted with hellish pain and suffering, simultaneously suffocating and drowning. Solid and stiff, unable to scream. Their flesh turn to stone, feeling as if it's being ripped apart with sand filling their wounds. It was incredibly rare to find crystals capable of containing a soul, let alone getting away with this spell!

That was when she brought herself forward, Matilda was conflicted with her assumptions of whether they would let her do this, her shun her forever. She told them about her dabblings in necromancy, Matilda told them about the book she had. Which clearly stated that this was a frowned upon school, and that no one should ever try it. In Public.

After a few shocked comments, Pride convinced Shade that using Matilda's dark skills would be the best choice, neither of them wanted their friends to suffer for eternity. Tetra walked in on them and surprisingly, didn't complain or freak out about what they were conspiring. So they set to work to achieve the proper ritual's requirements.

The requirements for the ritual to transfer a soul into a new body, or a soul out of a soul container, goes as follows:

The soul's new host must be healthy and relatively young
- to ensure the product survives the process
The soul's new host must have similar, if not the exact same, genes and colours as the previous host
- to ensure the soul doesn't reject the new host
The rest of the clutch that the new host was plucked from must be sacrificed
- To ensure their souls don't retaliate at the replacement of their kin
The new host, with it's own soul, must be consciousness during the whole process
- To ensure the soul's memories transfer over

The process of the ritual goes as follows:

Both the previous host (Or soul container) and the new host must be washed in lobster blood prior to the transfer
The two bodies must preform a blood transfusion, unless this is preformed with a soul-filled container, than the new hosts blood must be spill on the container, and the nearest relative's blood shall be transfused into the new host's blood stream
The previous host must be then pierced through the heart with an onyx or Jet dagger, if the previous host was in a soul container, the soul container should be fashioned into a dagger or smashed with the dagger
Immediately after the new host must have it's chest stabbed, it mustn't hit the heart but it must be right next to the heart.
The new host must be healed and ensured to survive, they should wake up with the new soul.

The whole concept of necromancy was outlawed in many, if not most, clans. Especially this single ritual. It called for the creation of a somewhat clone of both Todd and Ruby. And the slaughtering of this clone's siblings. Tetra heavily disapproved of this, willing them on to find another way. There was none. She begging them not to do it, but to no avail. Shade and Pride wanted them back, no matter what.

Tetra couldn't let them go through with this, but she didn't understand. Yet. After witnessing tragedies like war first hand, a dragon changes. They can change one of a few ways, the dragon will go out of there way to prevent this from ever happening again. The dragon will give up, and shatter, accepting this sort of cruelty and death to be normal. And finally, the way Pride and shade were effected, the dragon will break and give up, becoming more cold and self-serving, developing an 'every dragon for themselves' attitude. They wouldn't stop at a simple sacrifice.

Pride said that they wouldn't even speak of this idea again. So she left and they immediately started devising a way to obtain such hatchlings. Matilda was daunted by her elders' lies and enthusiasm, yet she complied.
