Advice From Skin/Accent Makers

I use FireAlpaca. I make them whenever I am not a lazy bum.. inspiration can come from anywhere. Process.. eh.. can't help much there as I am a terrible example :-p I literally just start slapping stuff on until it looks good.

I use Paint Tool Sai, and more recently Procreate. I like body horror and nuclear mutations, so that’s the inspiration of my largely unprinted skaccents.

I use autodesk sketchbook cuz i like how easy it zooms in and out, then i do clipping and resizing in GIMP because autodesk doesn't do either of those.

As for inspiration it's either because i want it for a particular dragon, want to enter a flight fest contest, or something random pops into my head to do(most often this one).

Sometimes the accents I make have no forethought going into them, and i mess around with colors and whatnot for an hour or two just to see if anything pops into my head, which is why what I make are always random things and I don't have an ongoing theme or rhyme or reason to it. If inspiration doesn't strike i'll wait for another day to try again. Sometimes I can get rapidfire inspiration/motivation and make several in a day or week.

A couple times I made an accent because a friend inspired me and I wanted to gift them a copy of whatever I make, for example I made my Ladybug accent for gaoler M solely so I could throw a copy at a friend on a discord server.

I've only made like, 3 skins/accents so far, all of which were entries for festival skin contests. I use Photoshop... Honestly, most of my inspiration comes from the festival itself, and I've been trying to push myself to make skins/accents when festivals roll around. I just mess around with different ideas until I'm like "Yeah that'll do" and do my best to roll with it lol

I'm not really great at making skins/accents, but that's why I'm practicing!
