Biography
VIOLET / THE MAGICIAN / HE/HIM
VISTA: Feral Visage? / SCENE: Scene TBD
The most talented practical magician this side of Sornieth, Violet's performances enthrall hatchlings and adults alike.
"Alright, kiddos!" Violet stamped his foot on the old wood of the backstage. Outside, they could faintly hear the clamor of the waiting audience. "Line up!"
The hatchlings obediently scampered into a line as Violet addressed them. "You all remember what your part is?"
They nodded. Boo nodded so enthusiastically it looked like his head might pop off. "I get under the sheet, right? And you do some magic on me, and then I'm not there anymore, but then I come back!"
"Exactly right!" Violet gently patted him on the head. "And the rest of you are my assistants for-- say it with me, now..."
"Presentation!" They chorused.
"All righty! Now, let's get out there and show them what being a magician is all about!" He led them around the stage and pushed open the curtain, bowing and waving. The hatchlings posed around him, the glitter on their faces catching the stagelight.
Violet got a lot of questions about being a "magician". He made sure to use that combination of words exactly when referring to himself-- he is not a mage, nor a wizard, nor warlock nor sorceror; he is a magician, thank you very much, and he'd like for you to say that word with a little less disdain.
Dragons like to assume that, because they live in a world with "real" magic, sleight-of-claw tricks and practical illusions are just worse ways of doing what already works. They are, of course, wrong. Violet knows better than anyone else that perfecting an invisibility spell takes an absurd amount of power, let alone a simple teleportation trick. Doing any of these spells on a stage without any preparation would be halfway to impossible, but his critics liked to claim it wouldn't be hard. More fool them, he always thought. Let them sit there sneering as everyone around them claps and laughs.
You don't need a spell to conjure a smile-- just a bit of magic does the trick.
Adopt by me! (Albeit an old one...)
