Bambi, to Rubie wrote:
I was a seeker of the sunlight
A seer of things as they’re meant to be
A speaker of real and tragic endings
A shadow of harsh, cold reality
I was a seeker of the sunlight
My mind was filled with truths unknown
And when you listened to my stories
I saw on your face excitement show
I shared what I thought was common knowledge
But for some reason you chose to believe
In foolish tales of legends and of myths
And stories that did not mean anything
And I knew we wouldn’t stay together
Riding into the sunset like royalty
Or live in a castle made of candy
With sugar flowers and icing leaves
For walls are cold stone, not fresh vanilla
Stairs are wooden, creaking planks
Curtains are tattered fabrics, torn with wear
Hearths are banked fires in rooms dark and dank
But you made a world you thought perfect
And sometimes I envy your ability to dream
But I knew it was that world you retreated to
To rejoice and relax in make-belief
And you tried to show me your paradise
So we can dance together under the moon
In your world with no need to worry
About sorrows, despairs, or dooms
But my thoughts were far too real
And your dreams too thin to bear my weight
I shattered your sugar-spun make-beliefs
Of chocolate stairs and houses of cake
And your soft-spoken voice was no match
For my words that cut like a knife
And your fantasy crumbled slowly
As I tried to show you what was real life
I thought I could help you
If I destroyed the thoughts fake and sweet
But even in its destruction
You clung to that foolish, flimsy dream
And even when faced with such an ending
You chose to stubbornly believe
That life is still just a fairytale
And I just a chapter before you were crowned queen
And I couldn’t make you see my reason
We didn’t fit - so I had to go
I don’t hate or wish to hurt you
But I’m far better off alone
For not everything has a happy ending
Don’t be disillusioned by your dreams
I care for you though I’ve left you
So please wake up from this fantasy.
