Biography

Alexander
‘Playful, stubborn, and eager to please.’

Alexander was found as a tiny, malnourished hatchling ten minutes or so from the village during a large snowstorm. He was immediately taken in and given plenty of food and rest, growing into a healthy and boisterous young dragon. Alexander believed he carried a large debt to the clan for saving his life, and begun to put all his energy into any job the elders put him up to. When he was asked to make arrangements for a festival, he quickly found his true calling. Organising every component of the event in mere days, and having the entire thing run without a single issue, Alexander loved every minute of his duty, and clearly had a great talent for it. The clans job committee assigned him as head of event planning soon after, and Alexander finally found a way to repay his debt whilst enjoying himself. In his spare time, Alexander also found interest in healing, and took up an apprentice ship under the head healer. The healer commented that he showed potential, but lacked focus.

These days, Alexander rushes about making last-minute arrangements for festivals and meetings, as well as healing minor scrapes and illnesses, mostly those the hatchling receive whilst playing.

(1)
‘Hey!’ Alexander bounded through the town garden, breaking down saplings and flowers in an excited bid to reach his friend.
‘Miss Lu isn’t going to be happy with you destroying her garden.’ Lacey laughed, greeting Alexander with an affectionate head-but.
All at once he realised the mess he’d caused, and yelped. ‘I have to fix it!’
‘Have you ever planted anything?’ Lacey quipped.
Alexander shook his head, but looked dangerously determined.
‘You might be better to just leave it alone..’ Lacey muttered.
‘You keep lookout; I think everyone's out hunting, or asleep.’ And with that, Alexander plunged into the garden, busily replanting roses and shrubs, kicking about dirt with his paws.
‘Oh gosh.’ Lacey breathed, looking about the dirt caked courtyard.
When Alexander was done further destroying the once elegant garden, he stood back to look over his work.
‘We could blame it on a stray familiar?’ Offered Lacey.
‘Oh gosh, it looks even worse!’ Alexander paced around the concrete circle of destruction anxiously.
‘We need to own up.’
‘We? I didn’t do anything!’ Lacey protested.
‘Okay, okay, I need to own up.’

(2)
[Head healers name] rolled her eyes. ‘That herb heals a bad cough, not burns!’
‘Sorry!’ Alexander dropped the leaves onto the ground and darted off, apologising all the way.
‘You okay, kid?’ [Head healers name] Asked softly, looking over the young hatchlings scarred red scales.
‘Y-yes mam.’ The small guardian replied between sobs.
Alexander rushed back into the room with a glass bottle of white paste in his maw. Quickly emptying the contents onto the patients burns, he paused to look at [Head healers name] hopefully.
‘Yes, that’s the right one.’
Alexander grinned and continued treating the hatchling.
After his pain was gone, the hatchling perked up slightly and begun chattering away to the two healers.
‘I knew Goldie couldn’t control her flame breath!’ He accused.
‘Do you think she meant to hurt you?’ Alexander asked, gently attempting to bandage the child's wounds.
‘Well, maybe’ He replied
Alexander was reminded of when he was a hatchling, and his best friend, Lacey, accidentally knocked him down a rocky hill. He was left with a few scars and a sore head, but the damage was nothing major. Even so, Lacey felt so guilty she couldn’t even look at him for a week without crying.
‘She probably feels really bad.’ He commented
‘I dunno.’ The hatchling was understandably quite upset.
‘If she didn’t feel bad, would she be here to see you?’ Alexander noticed a trembling golden-scaled hatchling out the corner of his eye.
‘I’m so sorry!’ She sobbed, darting into the healing room to see her friend.
‘I-it really hurt!’
‘I’ll never do it again!!’
‘Promise?’
‘Yes!’
Now both the hatchlings were crying profusely.
‘You’re my best friend, I'd never hurt you on purpose!’ Goldie whimpered.
‘You’re my best friend, too!’
The hatchlings attempted to hug, but realised with his burns and her jagged scales, it probably wasn’t the best idea.
Alexander smiled at the reunion.
‘Alright, that's very sweet, but could you please wait outside for your friend? He needs some time to heal.’ [head healers name] looked sorry to break up the heart-warming scene, but rules were rules.
Goldie nodded hesitantly, and turned to walk out.
‘Do- do you wanna be my girlfriend?!’ The injured hatchling called after her.
Goldie blushed.
‘Maybe!’

Alexander landed on the ground with a gentle ‘thud’, and sighed heavily.
He hadn’t slept in days, the crystalline gala was coming up and he’d been extraordinarily busy planning the clans celebration and worship. [Priests name here] was helping him out with the religious side of things, but there was still huge amounts of food to gather into storage, ice sculptures to plan, decorations to hang, and even more.
‘It’s alright, kid, just calm down. Do you wanna go take a nap or somethin’? I can get the gathering team together.’ [Priests name here] was always so casual with plans, it was easy to forget he was the highest priest sometimes! Alexander shook his head wearily.
‘This is my job. I have to finish it.’ He grunted.
[Priests name here] Chuckled.
‘You got determination, kid. May the Icewarden bless yah.’
Alexander thanked him, then darted off in the direction of the gatherer’s caves.

He arrived in a scramble of loose feathers, panting.
‘We.. need… food… for… celebration!’ He gasped.
[Head gatherer] Plonked a large, wrapped bundle of plant matter in front of him, and smiled.
‘Here’s all the stuff for our herbivores, the meat and insects are coming up soon.’ She looked around at the cluster of other dragons surrounding her.
‘Who’s getting the seafood?!’ She yelled.
The other dragons yelped simultaneously, and bounded off in various directions.
‘The seafoods coming as well.’ She assured smoothly.
Alexander breathed a shaking sigh of relief, and set off to begin decorating.
