Biography
Twist has always been a little different.
You wouldn't notice it unless you spoke to him, or you were very observant. But he had this odd habit of never really looking at someone, it was always through them. Like he was staring at something no one else could see.
He was forgetful, too. He never seemed able to remember anyone's name, and he assigned them all numbers instead. They seemed random, although older dragons tended to have shorter numbers, and siblings were usually consecutive. Usually.
He assigned numbers to everything. The Wildclaw Azure (who he called 4560067) was a 25. So was his daughter, Rushlight. Most of the other dragons were a 1. No one knew what these numbers meant, only that Twist was nervous around dragons with higher numbers.
That alone wasn't so odd. Everyone had their quirks, and a fondness of numbers wasn't nearly as unusual as some.
But sometimes, things went… odd around him. Plants would bloom with a flower that was the wrong size or color. Birds would fly upside down. A peach would become an apple. Little things like that.
Twist never answered when people asked about it. He changed the subject, or pretended not to hear.
There was only one thing he would talk about, and that was because he couldn't deny it. Sometimes his head would be in one place and his body in another, then his body would slide into nothing and he would all be in one place. Windows, he called them sometimes, or cracks. He could travel through them. No one else could see them until Twist went through one, and all they could see then was where his body stopped and air began.
All his oddities aside, people liked Twist. He was skittish and shy, but he could hold a conversation well enough. Sometimes he was nowhere to be found, and would come back smelling of ice, or jungle flowers, or other odd scents, but he never caused any trouble, and he always did his fair share of the work.
He was just another oddity in a world full of them.
