Lorus is mute. He prefers to listen and sit on the sidelines rather than enter a conversation. He communicates with thumps of his tail or scraps with his claws and nose to get someone’s attention, and often acts out what exactly he’s trying to say. His sense of humor is dry, and he is confident in himself and his abilities to hunt and protect. Lorus is a loyal, trustful dragon, but he has a healthy sense of skepticism, making him a good judge of character.

Lorus is an excellent hunter. Despite his large size, he is quick and light on his feet. He uses every spine on his body to his advantage, and always waits for everyone else to eat before himself. He enjoys teaching new clan members how to fight and protect themselves if they don’t know how, and helping them discover which job is right for them.

It didn't take him long to find his place in the clan when he came to the Wild Garden. He was well received. Because he was mute, the other dragons didn't really understand him at first. They thought he was shy and uncomfortable, and gifted him beautiful golden clothes and a crown in order to make him feel welcome. Soon enough, they others actually began to understand his way of communicating, and it became obvious that he wasn't uncomfortable at all. He still wears the shiny outfit though, kind of as a joke.

When he was finally able to start communicating with the other dragons in the clan, it opened up the possibility of him becoming friends with them. The dragon he is closest to is Killian, who he views as his mentor. It was always Lorus' wish to become someone who could help others find their place.

Because of his remarkable hunting skills, he would take it upon himself to become the clan's Chief Hunter. However, before being fit for that role, he would have to train. When his training is complete, it's his hope that he'll be able to teach other young dragons how to hunt using his special abilities. The whole deal with him being a mute is a bit of a barrier for him becoming a teacher, but Killian has always encouraged him, telling him that it's just as good if the teacher just shows the student how to hunt, rather than explaining it with words.

Lorus gets along with everyone in the clan, and a good reason for this is that he's such a good judge of character. He simply knows how to interact with others in a "good" way. He likes to listen to others, and because everyone knows he won't tell secrets to others (obviously, since he's a mute), others often confide in him. He knows so many secrets, and of course - he keeps them all to himself. He uses his knowledge of others to try to help them with their everyday problems. He is the only dragon in the clan who gets along with Dawn. Lorus knows Dawn has feelings for him, but he sees him purely as a friend. Sort of. Lorus could never consider being in a relationship with someone selfish, because he, himself, is so selfless.

As the clan grows, the need for food in the clan increases, and Lorus knows that if nobody does the hunting, there are many who will go hungry. He is eager to complete his training, so that he could be a part of getting food for the clan.

trivia
» Lorus' most treasured possession is a Emerald Ring. He's had it ever since he left the clan he was born in. It's a keepsake from his home-flight.
» Lorus' has a little frog friend named Marshal, who has also been with him since he left his birth-lair. Marshal is very good at keeping still and clinging to Lorus' spikes when he goes hunting.
» As a way of "flirting"/trying to get his attention, Dawn often tries to "playfully" steal Lorus' crown. To be nice, Lorus lets him, and he even lets him wear it every now and then.
