She is perfectly suited to her two roles: Flight Instructor and Ambassador. She is good with the hatchlings and she teaches them the true joy that is flying; They always say that they never knew how amazing flying could be, because she teaches them that flight is more than a way of getting from there to here; It's joy and a way of life. At any chance she can Shamal will be delivering messages and flying the long distances to speak to other clans of the Celobra Sanctums. Shamal was soaring high above the Windswept Plateau when a stray gust of wind blew into her side. Used to things like this, she tilted her wings accordingly and continued on. But before long the gust returned, stronger and fiercer. Soon the clouds were black and a howling gale blew around her, pulling at her wings and flicking her tail in all directions. I need to land, she thought, eyes flicking to the ground below, before this gets too dangerous. But the wind had other ideas. Its speed increased, flinging Shamal in every direction. It was an all out hurricane, fiercer than the many that had come before it. All but elite wind dragons would be sheltered on the ground by now. And then the tree hit her. ________________________________________ |

They were thought to be nothing more than a rumour, for no dragon had ever seen one. One dragon set out to either prove, or disprove the existence of this Subspecies. After months of careful tracking she had returned with a full notebook of documentation. She had found them! They were real, and there was much to share about their hidden culture that was previously unknown. Currently there are three documented types of Zephyr Dancers though there is a possibility that other Tribes with other Varieties have not yet been discovered. Shamal is a : Warm Thermals Variant The first documented variation originated from the Zephyr Dancers of the Warm Thermals tribes. Over the generations these dragons traded their striped coat in for a smooth, lustrous sheen. They are nearly identical to the Zephyr Steppes Tribes, the only difference is their glittering overcoat.
This variant of the sub-species is most commonly found around the Reedcleft Ascent. These dragons have adapted to their cool, gusty environment by taking on a special heat-retention lair to their bodies, allowing them to take in and retain twice the amount of heat that the Zephyrs of the Steppes can. It is essential for their survival to sprawl out in the open, wings spread, and absorb at least an hour of sunlight. This can be risky, as their shining forms can be easily spotted by soaring dragons... so on most days, large groups emerge to sun together. They lay on their backs to absorb the sunlight, and lightly wiggle their legs in the air to mimic bamboo swaying in the breeze. To date, no dragon has witnessed this daily event, so their centuries of perfected camouflage are envied by local hunters and trappers. These dragons find humor in everything. ________________________________________ |
