xxxTheme song: insert song here Battle theme: insert song here Hawthorn vs Aediva theme: Castle crashers OST - Til death do you part
So she changed. She learned to follow orders, and when that wasn’t enough to keep the pirates from harassing her, she learned to fight, to fend them off. Her claws became sharp and her heart became hard, and when one of the crew stepped out of line, intent on making her day hell, she stopped them in their tracks. Aediva didn’t just hide her weakness; she outgrew it completely, stripped it from her bones and threw it to the wind. Eventually, the pirates disbanded. Some were captured. Some died. A few wanted to settle and enjoy their treasure with their remaining days rather than run the risk of being caught. Ultimately, there weren’t enough dragons left to man the ship, and she anchored for the last time at the edge of the Tangled Wood. It was there that Aediva and fault became so closely acquainted. She joined a local clan in the interest of ensuring she would have regular meals and shelter in unfamiliar lands. She did not make friends. She did not make allies. She just pulled her share of the work and kept to herself, always guarded. But the clan appreciated this, and gradually she was roped into strategy, and from there, into clan politics. From there, into marriage. At first, she hated Hawthorn. He was kind and soft, ruling his kingdom with a bright benevolence that earned him the favor of his people. His compassion was the stuff of legends, shared equally with everyone. Even her. She snapped at him, berated him, corrected his military decisions at every turn. Defied him whenever she saw the chance. And yet every night, he had kindness left over in spaces. He wanted to sit with her, listen to her day, share his, hope for better, dream for the best. As little as she wanted to be his wife, he tried every minute to be her husband. Gradually, oh so slowly, she accepted this, too. It was hard to do so. How was a dragon like her, so coarse and cold, worthy of such warmth? It would have been easier if they hated one another, because that would give her reason to be as cruel as she was. But Hawthorn never showed any signs of dislike, let alone disdain, and it wore down her barriers, exposing a hint of the Aediva that had once been, all the way back in the Windswept Plateau. Others hated her, though. They hated her enough to attempt murder. They hated her so much that they rushed. They missed. As military commander of Hawthorn’s kingdom, Aediva had made a number of enemies within her court and without. When they finally snapped, seeking her blood, her head on a poleax, they primed an assassin and one poisoned arm, a heady concoction that could stop an imperial in its tracks. They wanted her dead as could be. The trouble was that when the arrow was loosed, it hit Hawthorn instead. He had been in her chambers, waiting to see her, and the assassin had fired too soon, not checking to be sure he was shooting the right dragon. The arrow sank deep into Hawthorn’s side, killing him rapidly. Not so rapidly that he could not wish Aediva a fond farewell, though. Maybe it is not her fault. Maybe she cannot be blamed for straying too far from her nest, and all the horrors that ensued. But maybe she can be, and she must do everything in her power to defend herself. She will not love again, not when it has brought nothing but heartache, and she will not accept peace again, not until justice is served. Now, she has taken up Hawthorn’s throne and declared war on her neighbors. They cannot strike against her if she overthrows them all, and she will not rest until then. It is in the interest of self-preservation, as it always should have been. Still, she feels guilt. She feels at fault. And that will never go away. Bio by Tues.
[ ? ] Aediva doesn’t really have friends…
[ ? ] She was mated to Hawthorn.
[ ? ] Though the two were mated, they did not have any children together.
[ ? ] If I had to name every single one of Aediva’s enemies I’d be writing all night.
Extras [ Aediva died ages ago, but that does not mean she’s gone… ] [ Her names means 'a strife of wealth' or 'rich of wars' ] [ Though her name doesn't make a whole lot of sense lore-wise, she's actually a challenge I set for myself: spend 1 mil treasure on a G1. Love only gives you pain in the end Aediva opened her eyes. She was alive, yet she was dead. She had died fighting her enemies from long ago, but at the same time she was not. Had the dieties chosen to give her a new life? Aediva looked around her to see a that she was in one of the Stormcatcher's science rooms. Beside her were two dragons, a coatl and a skydancer. "I know what you want." The skydancer said. "Join me and you can find the ones in your previous kingdom that tried to kill you. |
