Coal
Outer territory guard
(Protects the Flickering Shadows clan's borders)

"Slowly out of line,
And drifting closer in your sights
So play it out, I’m wide awake,
It’s a scene about me
There’s something in your way
And now someone is gonna pay
And if you can’t get what you want,
Well, it’s all because of me!"
-"You're Gonna Go Far, Kid", by The Offspring

_____Coal was a vagrant, roving from territory to territory, seeking a plot of land to his standards. Problem being, Coal's standards for territory were absurdly high - and oftentimes only possible within already occupied territory. As such, Coal got into many battles with any clan he thought he could usurp, each ending with him fleeing, bloody and bruised, from the fight he started. Despite this, he continues on, searching for that perfect spot, inhabited or not. Eventually, he was scouting a promising bit of land in the nature territory, Coal encountered another imperial, his rusty red scales painted in vivid contrast against the greenery. Quickly shaking off his awe, Coal took a threatening posture, assuming that the dragon before him was the owner of this land, and that he'd be able to fight and win the land. However, the other dragon apparently didn't realize (or perhaps care about) the threat, instead choosing to offer up a friendly conversation. Coal, confused, ceased his snarling, and partook in the conversation, slowly warming up to the stranger, who introduced himself as Vermilion. Coal agreed to visit Vermilion's clan, intending to stay for only a few days, but those few days stretched into weeks, then months, then years, before eventually succumbing to the clan's (or, mostly, Vermilion's) hospitality, and officially becoming a member of the clan. He took up the position of an outer territory guard, chasing off those who had the same intentions he'd shown up with. Coal may or may not have gotten Vermilion and himself matching neckerchiefs.
