A legend from Eagle

Because of the entire country being surrounded by the impenetrable Cloud Banks residents of Eagle have no interactions with outsiders save for the priest that might be claimed by their gods. This has led many to wonder what the world beyond the Cloud Banks is like. Dangerous? Normal? Utterly boring? Most priests don't comment simply because there is rarely much to comment on.

But many Eagelites believe in the legend of Dehnva, a great flying island that lies out above the Cloud Banks. The exact condition of the island depends on the province you take your story from. Tarazed says its a great rock spire floating in the sky, Tseen Foo claim its a heavily forested island, Deneb a treeless landscape of the richest farmland you've ever known, Thalimain claim it has a giant telecope on it. A thousand stories of Dehnva for all the parts of Eagle the story is told.

The things that are agreed upon about the legend of Dehnva is that the island will only appear when the Cloud Banks are high, the tide of fog and mist encroaching on Eagle, floating high above the Banks. Legend claims that any who can find a way up to Dehnva will be rewarded by the gods, or at the very least be able to communicate directly with them. This belief has driven many a cleric mad with obsession over Dehnva. The term dehcaverous is used to describe those who are obsessed with the mythical island.

If Dehnva exists at all is still up for debate. No one has gotten a truly good look at it but stories of it appearing in all provinces except Altair are not uncommon throughout the centuries.
