There was an “I” once, but now the eyes serve two minds.
Khonsu fell, collapsing from his wounds. He had expected darkness, silence. But sometimes things just go wrong. Things happen that shouldn’t happen. His body was transmuted, and then became tainted. A mix of consciousnesses. An abomination. A shared mind.
There was no longer “him”, there was only “they”. They were an unfinished transmutation and could transmute anything they touch. Khonsu started hearing voices on what he knew to not be winds. He would no longer ever be alone.

“They” took responsibility for Khonsu. They travelled. Their trail eventually crossed into the territories of The Whispering Eyes Clan. What remained of the Guardian’s spirit had become haunted, sometimes overdominated. A female ridgeback of Whispering Eyes grew afraid, terrified that something that had once fought with Gods had come back into the world. She did the only thing she could think of.
She bound him with magic to stop him from leaving.
“They” stopped, alarmed. The Guardian was trapped. He needed to return, but the magic shackled him. Nirriti backed away, frightened and at a loss as to what to do. Antares stepped in, and only saw melancholic, unknown eyes.
Antares sent gifts and a heartfelt apology to Khonsu’s destination clan. The Whispering Eyes are now trying to undo Nirriti’s work and set the creature free. While the Guardian remains bound, the connection remains open. “They” speak. “They” breathe. While the Guardian appears anxious and distant to Whispering Eyes, he – they? – is only a victim.
