A Light ambassador of noble origins who fell in love with a disgraced Fire ambassador, he uses this clan as a touchstone for his travels.

His illegitimate son is a result of the scientist Dalton's meddling: he used Gawain's genetics to run an experiment that resulted in the cyber-dragon, Lancelot, producing a clutch of hatchlings. This caused great scandal in the clan, and nearly broke
Born of nobility and with the bearing to prove it, he is often referred to as "Sir" or "Lord" despite discouraging the use of titles.

Bold, dapper, and immensely courteous, Lord Gawain is loved and admired by virtually everyone he comes across. He chooses not to associate with the more questionable characters in the clan on account of propriety, but he is never careless with their feelings. He is somewhat of an egalitarian, and treats everyone - from petty thief to fellow noble - with the utmost civility and care. This has led to him being well-liked in all circles, and not one member of the clan will speak ill of him.

His chosen craft is diplomacy, and, like most Imperials with their crafts, he is a master of it. His low, elegant voice, polite behavior and slightly uncanny appearance have lead to countless deals being sealed in favor of the clan. Ichiko finds his company positively delightful, and the two of them can often be found quietly discussing events with matching smiles.

While he takes his position as an envoy of the Light flight very seriously, this did not stop him from taking a Fire ambassador as his mate. Pixel is as temperamental as he is calm, and the two balance each other neatly. The two get along very well, even if they rarely see each other on account of them both travelling extensively. Their eldest daughter, ScorpionWolf, reflects the result of having such different (and partially absent) parents rear her, but the rest of their children seem to have turned out fine. His other loyal child, Machination, is a point of secret pride for him, as even without much of his influence the Imperial has become an influential figure in the clan.

IMPERIAL RELATIONSHIPS

In the past Lord Gawain had an apprentice, who he was rearing to be his successor. He loved the young Imperial's artistic nature, and encouraged him to master the arts of poetry and music. The Imperial, however, scorned Gawain's kindness and left the clan, leaving a heart-broken mate and a rather upset teacher behind.
Despite all of his good training, Gawain could not help being disgusted at Cookie's insistence on taking a Pearlcatcher as a mate. This is the one time he ever treated another dragon with disrespect, or even spoke harshly. Gawain holds no ill feelings towards Pearlcatchers, but he feels that Imperials and Pearlcatchers should not mix in such intimate relations under any circumstances. Cookie eventually moved on to dwell with his forefathers, and the scandalous Pearlcatcher became a Light envoy. Dalton had to admire her spirit, and the two are now on speaking terms.
Dalton's experimentation using Gawain's genetics put huge strain on his relationship with Pixel, and threatened his good name. Dalton was quick to apologize and protest Gawain's innocence, which brought great relief to the clan. His reputation escaped largely unsullied, and despite the fact that the two rarely speak, Gawain and Dalton still have a strong mutual respect for each other (as older Imperials often do) and will turn to each other in times of need.
