Biography

After all, Zephyr is never far from the nursery, the very place Arwen and Gale discovered her resting when they first declared the caverns their home.
In an official capacity, she is the den mother of Dandelion Clan, tending to the hatchlings while their parents are busy with other matters. Day in and day out, she spins stories for her young charges, teaches them to swim in the lily pond, nudges their artistic talents gently along, and so much more. Her entire life is centered around the dragons that will be Dandelion Clan's future, and even when others offer to take her place, to give her a day off, she refuses. There is too much love and tenderness in her ancient heart to step away from young wonder and joy.
Unofficially, though, Zephyr is the clan's voice of reason, brimming over with ancient wisdom. Behind her cheery, lilting voice and the layers of colorful ribbons and frills is a depth of experience few dragons will ever live long enough to see for themselves. Her life before Dandelion Clan is something of a mystery, said to be tucked away in her endless stories somewhere, but it is all too clear that it gave her a wealth of experience that remains both reliable and unmatched. When she offers her advice, it comes not from a place of speculation, but from a place of witness and support. Very rarely does someone approach with troubles she has not overseen before, and very rarely do they leave her company still feeling adrift and unsettled.
It is a point of pride to her, not only to help the hatchlings grow up big and strong and full of boundless love, but to lend a helping hand or a strong shoulder to the clan's older members as well. No one should have to face their darkest days alone, and if her advice helps troubled dragons find better moments ahead, all the better. Every member of Dandelion Clan is like a child to her, like blood kin, and she would do anything to see them thrive.
But for now, the most important thing she can offer is a nurturing presence for the young ones, and a soothing font of wisdom for those no longer under her direct care. Strength for Dandelion Clan need not stem from physical power. Zephyr would much rather see it built from deep wells of compassion, and every day, that becomes a little more true.
This was her home before Arwen and Gale ever brought it under the banner of a clan, but she is beyond proud to see what it has become.

member of the clan's council, hatchery guard/nurse. an overall sweetheart and corgi lover.
ever since the clan leaders settled into their new location with their first members Zephyr was just...there. a friendly and motherly snapper always rambing about her world travels for anyone to hear. always helpful and full of wisdom she was easily accepted into the clan, which she claims as her 'new family'. her stories are popular among the hatchlings and she took it as her duty to babysit them whenever the parents are busy, and her egg care tips are 'priceless' as some members say. overall she's very loved by the clan.

The kindly matron always seemed to have a story to tell. From the mountainous peaks of Dragonhome to the deep treasures of the Sea of a Thousand currents, Zephyr would speak of them all. They were exhilarating, heartwarming, terrifying and enthralling. She wove her tales with heart, a scene so vividly depicted that it danced before the eyes. Some endings were bittersweet, some were triumphant. Yet, the heroes would always get what they needed, even if it wasn't what they wanted. Such was the way Zephyr created worlds from words.
Whenever a hatchling inquired into how she knew of it, she would laugh, and say it was "just a story", and give that patient, warm smile.
Yet, a story is never just a story. They always stem from another place, and another time. Far, far before.
Once, there were the four winds, of the North, South, East and West. Their hearts soared, far beyond the limits of the Plateau. They united their powers and flew together, across the corners of Sorineth.
They were overjoyed as they did, relishing the sights of the land. They saw the heart of the Great Furnace and the hallowed halls of the Sunbeam Ruins. They danced in the Obscured Crescent, and rode the storms of the Expanse. They saw all they could see, did all that they could do. Nothing was beyond their grasp.
They were too caught up in their adventures to notice when the East wind began to slow. Their wings were weighed by lead, their breath ravaged and raw. Their scales paled and flaked away, until they were just scale and bone. The West wind stayed by their side, doing her best to care for them. The North and South scattered, searching high and low for a cure. The two of them acquired the rarest blooms of the Labyrinth, the most potent tonic of the Starfall Isles, and the purest water from the Spiral keep. Yet, they only arrived fast enough to see their companion's lifeless eyes, staring into oblivion. The West wind could only stay by their side, as their breath thinned to nothingness.
With the death of the East wind, everything began to unravel. North and South railed at each other, blame and fury clashing like swords. Love turned to hate, the two howling with grief and despair. The West tried to intervene, but it was no use. She could only watch as their friendship crumbled, like sand in the rain.
The North and South split, each vowing to avenge the death of their fellow. Each invited the West to join them, to adventure like they did before, but how could she choose? Her heart ached, and she simply sought to return to where it all began.
Her companions were shattered, and she had gone nowhere, in the end. Yet, in returning, she had new friends, little ones that asked questions only a hatchling could ask, and a welcoming home. She didn't get what she wanted, but she got what she needed: A family.
