She hadn't thought much of the pearlcatcher; that was her mistake. The young lightning alchemist had had such a sweet melodic voice that had eased the translating of the dragonspeech so kindly. She had been such a thoughtful pearl.

The churning in her stomach hadn't left since her entire home upended by that sincere little alchemist. Maybe she should've warned the matriarch of the Lotuskite, the guardian that had so warmly took her in, that had encouraged her bug collecting earnestly.

But seeing Mintaka smile at the Nocturne, Vyrr, as he turned tail and fled. The blood drenched ridgeback. The battered imperial. The gleam in that tundras eyes. Recalling all of those only assured her that she had made the right choice in leaving.

Had she stayed, even just to warn the kindly Saraneth... She shivered in the warm balmy sunlight. No, it was best to be home.
