BIOGRAPHY

Moonstone doesn't remember her existence or where she came from. At such a young age she found herself alone in an unknown area. Dragons were passing her by and no matter how loud she squeaked, no one apparently heard her. She almost gave up until she saw a silvery coatl with bright green stones on him and reddish wings. He was being followed by a few other hatchlings and so she tired to see if he could see her. Unbeknownst to her, a some blueish glow surrounded her as she ran towards him, calling out. The coatl instantly turned towards her in surprise. The other hatchlings can see her too! She was so happy that she isn't alone anymore! The coatl tried to ask her if she lost her parents and where her clan was, but she couldn't remember anything, only that she was alone. He smiled softly as he picked her up and brought her home with the rest. Moonstone was so happy and quietly fell asleep on his back.

When she woke, she found that she was amongst other hatchlings, who were also asleep. The coatl was nowhere to be found and that scared her, but before long he reappeared with all types of food! By now all of the hatchlings were awake. After everyone ate, the coatl who she learned was named Arodan, told her that his clan leader has accepted her into their clan so that she has a safe home. She was so happy until he asked her if she had a name. She thought long and hard but came up empty.
"Well now, no one should go through life without a name young one." Arodan thought for a while and smiled at her. She tilted her head as he spoke again; "You're name can be Moonstone. Soft in colors but no less beautiful. Also the stone has some mysteries like you. Do you like it?" And that was when Moonstone got her name. She was so excited and loved the name. He then told her that the clan's elder was going to visit her and hopefully have answers for her. She smiled and danced along with the other hatchlings until a large pale imperial joined the cave. Arodan introduced her to the elder, Romulus. He looked down at her and she felt very intimidated but Arodan helped her gain some confidence. Romulus smiled at her and talked nice and softly to her.

Turned out she was something called a Fateweaver which would explain why no one else saw her until her desperation to be seen by Arodan, automatically granted him and the hatchlings around him the ability to see her. For Romulus to be able to see her, he suspected that her desire to belong has caused her to unknowingly effect the entire clan into being able to see her. Romulus couldn't give a lot of answers since little is known about the Fateweavers since they cannot be seen unless they want to be. However, he is confused by the fact that among his research; was that her patterns on her skin and wings do not match the Fateweavers besides her colors and the fact that she had bluish threads all wrapped around her. The threads' coloring did however give Romulus a clue as to which Fateweaver she was- a Thread of Life weaver. This could be a very interesting addition to the clan, but also informed Arodan that if Moonstone was a Fateweaver, that she may be in training and that they would have no more memory of her once she completes her training unless she already is a Fateweaver and the training was to gain the proper body and wing patterns then they would be able to remember her; but she would have to leave the clan.

This made Moonstone very sad. She was happy to know more about herself, but the idea of Arodan, the father she never had, forgetting about her and the others was practically heartbreaking and the very idea of having to leave was worse. Moonstone knew that she needed to complete her training and did her best not to think about the sadness. The longer she stayed, the harder it was for her to leave until Moonstone found the perfect way to stay. As a Thread of Life Fateweaver, she was drawn to hatchlings; almost identical to Arodan's paternal instincts to babysit. The clan never seems to run short of hatchlings, whether they stayed, adopted by other clans, went off to start their own, or being sent off to serve under Tidelord. She found her way to stay with the family she has come to love and she was even able to make it that only her clan can see her so that she could always be seen by her new found family.

When she isn't creating new threads, she found herself always in the company of Arodan, who became like a father to her and helped him with the hatchlings. Life is good and then the greatest and scariest change started to happen. She was finalizing her training...

Fateweaver

It started again with the recent unearthing of a secret study within Hewn City containing a series of mysterious, encoded reports. Naturally, with this discovery, a handful of the most fervent scholars around Sorneith began working tirelessly together day and night to cooperate and transcribe its secrets. After many weeks, the decoding was completed. The painstakingly decoded reports revealed a curious series of observations and spells concerning a strange, supernatural (type? race? cult?) of dragons.

Many scholars scoffed at the writings of this seemingly delusional author, regarding the effort put in to uncover these secrets as a waste of time before returning to their homes.
The more curious and determined minority decided to give the writings a chance and try out a spell, namely the one titled 'Clarity':

Day lily's juice and spider's weave,
Morganite dust, four daffodil leaves.
Two fae-lengths of deep red string,
Rose petal tea and lovebird's wing.
Clovers, gold from a pure seam,
Water from a breeze-blown stream.
Heart of mimic with their powder,
Scales from a mage in power.
Boil and mix on the longest night,
Rub in eyes to gain their sight.

However, after preparing and using the potions produced during the year's Night of the Nocturne, nothing seemed to have changed for the scholars- save for the fact that a few members went temporarily blind due to a defective batch. The papers were deemed a hoax and stored away in one of the many inaccessible basement rooms of the Observatory.

But that was when the first, most observant experimenters began noticing the thread weavers...

Rumoured to have existed since the dawn of dragons, fateweavers are ethereal, seemingly immortal draconic entities that have been quite happily forgotten in time until recent discoveries.

Fateweavers are usually invisible and undetectable, visible only either when they choose to be or when a successfully brewed Clarity potion is applied to the eyes of dragons that wish to see them. Even when visible, fateweavers are often overlooked due to their pale, desaturated colouring and choice of dull apparel- until someone notices the tangles of softly glowing threads draped over their bodies that they're often seen quietly fiddling with. Perhaps these entities have chosen to be easily overlooked, for the true purpose of their thread-weaving can be disturbing to many of their targets.

As their name suggests, the magical threads that these ghostly dragons handle outline fates of sentient creatures around them. While dragons are a definite target, fateweavers that have a broader mind often end up determining fates for Beastclans and other creatures too. Depending on the type of fate the weaver deals with, they could determine the destinies of anything from singular dragons to entire areas. Due to the grave importance of this type of work, fateweavers have been cursed to never stray from a mindset of neutrality, even when determining fates of dragons they may love dearly.

Despite popular belief, fateweavers can be created and destroyed. A willing dragon can undergo a very long, painful ritual to ascend to become a fateweaver, during which their existence is forgotten by everyone they ever met. Similarly, a willing fateweaver can abandon their state of being through a similar painful ritual and become a dragon again, losing their memories in the process. Fateweavers can collide their essences with dragons or other fateweavers to form new fateweavers, some of which might immediately become regular dragon hatchlings.

______________

blue/ green thread of life
tertiary colours: cobalt - stonewash, azure - shamrock
Said to be the most populous variant of fateweavers, life fateweavers are most commonly seen around nurseries and nests when upon a newborn's birth they draw out threads which snap at random points, determining the possible lengths of the target's life. Threads are then carefully woven with others, determining factors such as attempted murders and rescues. When the creature dies, all fate threads except for the occurred fate dissolve. A revived creature has their threads redrawn.
