B I O G R A P H Y

It all started that one fateful day, seemingly peaceful in the Starfall Isles. At the time, Dewdrop and Cacti had just moved from the Windswept Plateau, bringing their small clan with them. She wasn't sure exactly why they moved, something about some sort of calling according to Cacti, but she was happy to roam the world as they moved.

If only they knew what was going to happen, maybe then they would have been safe.

The clan had grown a significant amount before it happened, being large enough to move into the Starwood Strand. Dewdrop and Cacti had learned a good amount of combat skills and managed to protect the clan as they moved across the Isles. Some of the arcane aligned dragons in their group seemed on edge, although none of them could explain it.

So it was ignored.

It happened during a patrol, Dewdrop was with Cacti, scouting the land to see how far they could expand. A slow rumble made both of them perk their heads up, it seemed to be coming from the observatory. The two went to the edge of the water, looking up at the tall building.

That was when a bolt of wild magic came down from the sky and struck the observatory, causing a tidal wave of powerful, uncontrolled magic.

Dewdrop yelped as she was pushed backwards, the sudden release of magic having enough force to move her and even push down some of the small trees. She sat up with her head pounding. "Cacti." She said, her eyes closed tightly. "What just happened."

There was no response.

"Cacti?" Dewdrop called again, a bit of worry lining her voice. Once again, there was no answer.

"C-Cacti!" She yelped, standing up despite her pounding headache. "Where are y-"

"Stop yelling, I'm right here." Drewdrop's face lit up with joy as she spun around to face Cacti, only to not see him.

"I'm down here."

Dewdrop looked down to see Cacti as a tiny fae. "Why are you a fae?" She asked, poking his snout. "We don't have the money for a scroll right now."

____"It must have been that magic wave." Cacti said, struggling to get up. "How do you walk like this." He grumbled as Dewdrop helped him up. She looked back up at the observatory and gasped. The beam was still there and around it...

____Fragments of the observatory orbited around the beam, the once impressive structure now in ruins.

____"The observatory!" Dewdrop said, her fans lowering in distress. "Cacti that beam split the observatory!" She shook Cacti panic flowing through her veins. "We've got to do someth-" Dewdrop was cut off but a low growl and something lunging at the two of them. Squeaking in panic, the two faes flew up and out of reach of the shadowy shape.

____"What in the name of Sornieth is that?" Cacti said, readying his claws. "It's so dark, almost like it's sucking in light..." "It looks like a nocturne." Dewdrop said, observing the shape below. "But look, it's wings are too tattered for it to fly." The shape snarled at them, the signature nocturne mouth suddenly snapping at them. "Dewdrop..." Cacti said, his face pale as he pointed at the thing. Around it's neck was a necklace, it was simple but a clear identifier of a wind dragon, one they knew. Her face paled as she turned to speak to Cacti. "Why- no. How is that our clanmate?"

____"I don't know..." Cacti said, frowning at the nocturne. "Did the magic do this?" Dewdrop frowned. "I think so. Last time I check wind dragons don't have pink eyes, or glowing ones for that matter." The shadowy thing jumped up and snapped at them again, it snarled as it paced around. Cacti landed on a nearby branch, sadness in his eyes as he looked down at the dark nocturne. "Our clanmates. We have to check on them." He opened his wings and took off. With a sigh, Dewdrop took one last look at the nocturne before following him.
