Biography

I’ve been special since the day I was born.

My mother was an Imperial, like myself, but my father was a mere Guardian. It was only natural that all my siblings were also Guardians. But I beat the odds; I was also an Imperial, the greatest and most powerful breed in all of Sornith.

I was more than just that though; the arcane energies of the Starfall Isles blessed me with the gift of telepathy. I always knew what others thought of me, and of their small, insignificant lives. It didn’t take long for those in my birth clan to feel uncomfortable around me, as all small things feel around greatness. They didn’t understand anyway. Shoudn’t one explore their talents? Shouldn’t one know what they are capable of? What did it matter, if my fellow hatchlings went through inexplicable mood swings? What of it, if I revealed admittedly tedious secrets? If it wasn’t for my self-examination, I would have never realized my ultimate ability, to take total control of another dragon!

After my great triumph, however, my birth clan decided that they would rather stay mediocre than accept my leadership to greatness and glory and so I decided to leave. Good Riddance! One day they will know better, for they will be one under me as all dragons will.
But I am getting ahead of myself…

After I left my clan, I gave myself a well-deserved vacation and toured the different flights of Sornith; Sadly, more often than not, I was disappointed. So many dragons decide to live in squalid, ugly places. Even the visually presentable flights such as Nature, Wind, or Light had practically backward ways of thinking. It was becoming clear that Sornith was a world in need of clear, undisputed leadership and I knew of only one dragon capable of the task. But how to go about it? My mind control, powerful though it was, required intense focus just to work on one dragon, since the silly things would often fight for control in the meantime.

Then in the ice flight I found my answer… for I found the Hive. It was on a freezing, desolate rock near a backwater clan of hedgewitches. I remember sensing them, for their thoughts were so different, so efficient, so practical, so beautiful!

And most importantly, so obedient!

They followed a consciousness, a being that was truly ancient and wise - almost equal to myself! They sensed me right away, and I chose to tactfully retreat beyond their range. While I did so I snared one of their drones for myself. At first it was hard to hold on to its mind; it was devoted to its Consciousness. But I tweaked its main code to make Me their One, and it became easy, so delightfully easy. It didn’t fight me; It didn’t require me to alter its emotions. It didn’t think anything I didn’t want it to think or do. Better still, it didn’t even require my direct supervision! Give it a task and it’ll follow its directive to the end. I just had to be careful to keep it away from other consciousnesses for they easily took back any drones within range. As I searched my drones “databanks” I found even more wonderful information. Drones could be created easily, using other dragons! All that was required was the administration of a liquid known as conversion fluid, and a dragon would shed its old body and troublesome personality, and become a malleable, useful drone. Frustratingly, the secret to making conversion fluid was not included in a mere drone’s databanks.

Fate was on my side, for I came across a half-drone; the experimental offspring between a drone and a regular dragon, Hermann by name. The little thing was quite pitiful, driven nearly mad by the absence of her drone mother, the uneasiness of her dragon father, and the awareness of the unity of the hivemind, without the ability to truly be a part of it. It was easy to win her affections. A little feigned affection and the chance to avenge herself against those who had rejected her, and she was as wet clay in my hands. In those days, she was a humble and faithful servant, not the irreverent, ungrateful, sulky, treacherous, runaway swine she is today. Regardless, I do owe her, for the means of starting my hive. So when I locate her I’ll make sure her death is painless. I am nothing if not merciful.

After she joined me, I sent her to infillitrate the hivemind, and she successfully retrived a large supply of conversion fluid, and helped me secure another drone! With a faithful servant, two drones, and the means of making more, I departed to set up my operation. I decided against locating myself in Arcane or Light, because I did not want to waste my precious time dealing with their keen sorcerers at this stage of my plan. Wind’s territory was too open, and its dragons too noisy; I would have been discovered in a week. That left the Viridian Labyrinth with its endless dark unexplored areas and no competition besides primitive, glorified magic gardeners. There, in a glade of thorns, I began my operations. I stole drones from other hives. I found the weak, the isolated, the easily fooled, and I lured them to me with pretty words and promises of utopia. I gave them freedom, freedom from their past problems, and all the conflict that comes with being an “individual”. I made them my drones, my servants, my jewels. We continue to grow, becoming a goddess of Sornith. Someday, We will be many and all will be peaceful. We shall take the dark, damp, nasty corners of Sornith and turn them into our garden. We will stamp out all the traitors and abominations, all the other consciousnesses, all wars and flights and other deities, for all will be one under us.
