"Oh! The dark here! Its beautiful!."

Leaving her home flight was an easy decision for Melody. It was all too bright, she was always sick, and didn't know why. She had always struggled with bright things. And so the sick young spiral headed north east where she collapsed in the driftwood drag, barely having made it to shadow. Anelia, Fern and Robin Found the bright red female floating on the bank, unconscious and ill, deciding to take her in, and see if Belle could help her. As a fellow wind dragon, and healer in training they decided worst case scenario, they would call in a real doctor. After some time spent in Belles care, and a ton of bed rest, Robin and Fern called in another dragon who seemed to be a doctor. Her scales still a bit inflamed, and almost able to talk, the attention and care was encouraging. Right up until for no reason she could pin point, she suddenly got worse again. Starting to suspect something was wrong, she became truly fearful of her situation when Belle left. The little fae had been working hard to help her though she couldn't do much to help tell him how to do so in her condition, a bit of bed rest, she knew, would eventually have gotten her there. Something was up with this new doctor, and Melody suspected she was being used as an excuse for the little loonatic to stay. Quietly terrified and with no way to call for help, Melody played the good patient, hoping that Belle would be back to out whatever she was doing to her quickly. For now she would grin and bare it while Quartz had her eye on her, and pretend to know nothing.

One day, while she was resting, she quietly watched Quartz fiddling with a new lock one the inside of the door. She knew from listening to the members of this clan that there was one on the outside in case something happened with the "Guest" in the medical bay. A good move on the clan leaders part. Quartz had started to sedate her she knew after she'd rounded up just enough strength to snap at the tiny female once. Sedated, but not quite unconscious here and there, she half watched quietly as one day the crazy little medic lead who what she understanded was the clan heads lead guard and in lair muscle in to move her. The shift in weight was welcome and the movement relieved some of her stiffness being locked down and sedated in bed for so long. Comfortable again she let herself drift off quietly back to sleep. Really as far as she could tell, there was nothing exciting happening. That was, until she was roused slightly to her semi-sedated state by screaming. Having been rolled onto her side to face away whatever was going on she found herself confused and disoriented by the sudden wailing behind her and the strong scent of blood. She tried to squirm around, but didn't manage to do more than wiggle her nose a bit. Sure as hell the damned medic had given her something stronger at the last dose. As the wailing began to quiet, she could hear the chubby little snapper nurse who had recently joined the clan talking about moving Iris to her room. The mirror girl who had moved her? She'd always seemed pretty nice when she'd interacted with dragons around her, and the snapper, what was her name? So... something that started with an S. She was nice too. Dispite missing the sneaky medics mistreatment of her.

Hearing them leave, and the door close, Melody started trying to wiggle en earnest. She needed to know what had happened and if she could just flip herself around somehow with her tiny amount of movement she could manage, maybe she could find out. Being stuck in one place had made her nosey and currious about any of the gossipy things that found their way through the medical bay. Instead of flipping herself though, she found herself sliding awkwardly off her neatly made bed, tangled up in the soft furs and cottons right into a great big pool of blood that had accumulated on the floor with a great splat. The first thing that hit her hazy drugged mind was that was going to be supper annoying for her hosts to clean out of the nice soft fur, and bedding they'd so kindly provided her. The second was the realization that it would be damn easy to out that cursed little medic if she decided to clean the floor with her tongue. Hell, she could already feel the effects from just awkwardly laying in the puddle.

Her strength returning she had the momentary insight to lock the inside lock she'd seen Quartz put on the door. More an impulse from being shy about the idea of actually licking this stuff off the floor. It smelled alright, hell it smelled pretty damn good really. Quite frankly she'd take what she could get. A knock came on the door and she jumped and hissed at it. Her conscious mind thought to call out to who was apparently the nice snapper lady on the other side. She didn't want to get all protective and mean over this food. "LOCK ME IN!" she panicked shouting far louder than she'd intended, not having expected her voice to work. Realistically she knew that sure, licking the floor clean would make her better, but if her brain decided to lock out her consciousness and go for the fresher stuff on the other side of the door she'd be in deeper dung than she cared to imagine. And so, with that she simply stopped thinking at the click of the lock. Blacked out after going so god-awefully long without meeting the blood needs inherited from her father.

When she woke back up she found herself only slightly covered in blood, sucking quietly on one of the bits of bedding that had absorbed some of the blood, and listening to Sophies gentle voice from the other side of the door. The door had some light claw marks in and under it as if she'd tried to claw through it and she'd managed to tie herself into four knots somewhere along the line. Melody liked Sophie even more now. Somewhere in the back of her mind she knew, that even with her probably hissing and snarling, having knocked over many things in the room and torn up some of the bedding rather viciously Sophie had stayed firmly on the other side of that door just... talking to her. And right now she had no words to describe how happy she was to find someone as lovely as that. Calling out to the snapper, she apologised, scooting away from the door, and focused on untieing herself. Just how she had managed to tie herself into four knots she wasn't sure but it was tricky manoeuvring herself to undo it. When the door didn't open, Melody pressed herself to it as she remembered something important. That was... a LOT of blood. Iris was a nice girl too, and she needed to make sure that she was okay. But it seemed that Sophie was just as unsure. All that was known was that Lilly had chased Quartz out of the lair, and they'd found Iris strapped down and bleeding out. Cut open to some unknown purpose.

What neither she, nor Sophie expected however, was to hear Belles voice when footsteps sounded at the lairs entrance. Belle, the healer who had been so gentle and careful, Belle who had kept such a sharper eye on her tormentor had come back. The spiral coiled herself up, away from the door when he asked to be let in the room to see her. Melody had since calmed down considerably and felt for the first time in a long while truely alright. The nice nurse and the nice medic were here now, she would be okay! She was finally FINALLY going to be okay.

With Belle back, Melody made a far swifter recovery than she could have even bothered to hope for. The dark and the blood treatments Belle gave her had her on her feet in virtually no time at all. And with each treatment, she saw the tiny healer seemed to ponder more about her situation, until he finally felt it was confirmed. Melody, he declared to the clan, suffered from a form of vampirism that afflicted a portion of the dragons who had been hit by or were born with the smirch gene that had appeared in the last night of the nocturne. In his travels to train he'd come across her condition n a couple of different clans, and had returned from training early to inform them and to make sure that Melody would be okay. But he hadn't wanted to scare anyone in the clan if it had turned out to be something else.

Robin took anxiously to the news. As a large spiral, she knew Melody needed a fair bit of blood to survive. However, Belle came prepared for that too. He suggested to the clans matriarch that they make her a fae. Being so much smaller, Belle argued, she wouldn't need much and in fact he could likely provide for her needs in such a form himself. Melody herself liked the idea of being smaller. Her condition made it hard to deal with lights, and the smaller she was, the more easily she could hide herself in the shadows. With that in mind, she and Belle took a trip to te scrying work shop together to see what they could learn and think of that might help her further. What they found there was another wonderful idea; Capsule. To Melodys ut-most delight, she looked damn good with it too. Not only did it look incredible on her, she could store blood in the kind of pocket it created if she had to do any travelling for any reason. So having fun now, and encouraged by Belle they ended up splurging a little more than they thought, on their way home, that they were probably allowed to. But hey, she was going to look incredible.

And so the Skink-Toxin-Smirch Spiral became a Pinstripe-Trail-Capule Fae.

As far as training went however, Belle still hadn't finished. And again he found that no matter how he tried he would have to leave the tiny clan again to expand on his magic and learn more healing and medical techniques. With his biggest problem patient sorted out, he decided he would prepare to head out. Carefully storing several litres of blood away for her and instructing Sophie on how and when it needed to be administered. The idea of Belle leaving absolutely terrified Melody. Things were just starting to be better for her and she had no idea how she would handle life without the male. And so she spent the day looping her tail into knots out of sheer anxiety watching out the window of the medical room, and helping Sophie where she could. In the end though Fern finally had enough of her whistful longing and figured it would be good for the anxious little fae to get out. Dragging her near kicking screaming and snapping, to the kelp beds she watched Fern and Robin work the bed quietlly for a while. Ah that looked like fun. But what if she got hurt? She'd need more blood, and the store Belle had left for her seemed preciously small. So she stayed back anxiously watching until one day came a very large, very quiet Mantarune. It swept up behind fern, glowing ominously and when the little fae hadn't quite seemed to notice it, she jumped out, clawing and biting the thing to very little effect before a sharp shock of cold hit her and she was knocked out.

When she woke it was to a highly amused Fern, and a bored looking Robin. She'd apparently taken a frigid bolt square in the face, and broken her neck. Robin and Fern had thought she was done for until her bones had knitted themselves back into place and they watched over her until she woke up. That rapid healing ability had Fern all riled up, and Robin curious. As Sophie didn't need any major help back at the lair, Fern and Robin decided that if she wanted she could come train with them. Learning to fight as well as having her rapid healing ability was bound to help her find something to do. And if she ran out of blood by needing it to train, they decided they would figure something out for her. Somewhat thrilled to be able to be of use, she decided she would try do her best to get as strong as she could before Belle got back. She'd surprise him with how strong she was going to get.
