Curse is a word she hears a lot. Wherever she goes, she hears that word as dragons huddle together and glare at her with a hatred not many dragons experience. If she hadn't had her cowl, she would have probably killed a lot of innocent dragons. But she is used to the hatred, to the elements thrown at her, to the dragons leaping out of her way. She hears the words they call her. 'Witch' they scowl at her, 'Murderer', they growl at her. 'Descendant of the Shade, a dangerous monster.' She hears it all.

______ She seems to never take it personally, but when she is alone, away from the fury and hatred, she breaks down into tears. She cries and cries for hours on end, with nobody lending her a wing. Nobody, except her father, Malfunction, who is always there when she needs some company, and her good friend, Staryana. The two are inseparable, always together. Whenever Staryana's presence is near, dragons keep their mouth shut and turn a blind eye to the cursed Pearlcatcher.

______ When she met Lycus, her heart, once made of darkened obsidian, melted. She truly loved him, and would stay by his side, even if the Shade did not approve of it. For the Shade within her did not know of love, it only knew of death and despair, sadness and odious joy.

Now they live peacefully in the Dreaming Clan, surrounded by their children, and Nightingale couldn't ask for anything else. "I have everything I need." She always says, a warm smile on her face, no longer afraid.
