Biography

There was no room in Adara’s stonewalled heart for company. Her lips curled and she snarled, donning the night like a cloak and fading into obscurity. It was her job to be unseen, to be forgotten, a rat among the sewer walls, a maggot infestation far beneath the pits of the land, clawing into the most private reaches of the world in order to pry apart its careful secrets.

Her duty meant that for once, Adara’s purpose was in her control. No longer the babe abandoned and left shrieking with wet cheeks and dry throat, dull nails reaching for the sky, reaching for a mother, a father, a family, and finding the cruel screaming laughter of the silence to ring in her ears. Left at her most vulnerable, left at her broken infancy, she was barely raised, prickly and sneering with her narrowed eyes trained to the throat, the limbs, trained to harm to keep from harm. She swore she would never possess so little control again. Ever again.

Her claws shredded stone in passing, teeth parted to breathe in the sickly sweet summer stench of rich pollen, swathed by darkness and illuminated by the moon’s relentless watch. She met her informant, a creature of little importance, snatching the letter from their hands and writhing back into the far corners. Adara grew ever closer to connecting names, connecting families, connecting secrets. She harboured knowledge violent and chaotic, the verbal power to bring down cities. Her powerless infancy had bled from her, her gilded iron heart beating thick with a superior love of the control she expressed among even the most noble of families.

She would force the world to forget her, but no longer would she ever be left in this world without ripping the land apart to leave her mark in it. She would bury the largest wound in all the lands.

And she would never be powerless again.

Adara's 'pet' fish:

Ever wonder about who controls Sornieth?

Do you really think it's the so called 'gods' you're sending these dragons to?

The 'gods' who give you what you need to live your lives?

Well, if they are, they answer to someone higher, even higher than them.

This group of individuals hide in plain sight, knowing that you will NEVER suspect them. They do their business in the shadows, behind your back, and the clues are everywhere but only a few see.

Only a few believe.

For those of you unaware, and are willing to listen? Pull up a seat and pay attention. For I will tell you of this secret group. The group that even the gods fear..

The Illuminoggle.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the dead of night, we go out for Mama. Our stubby tails wiggling and our eyes ever angry, we piddle through the sewers unseen. We are...the Illuminoggle.
An elite band of Noggles interconnected by a series of fish-spy networks, we travel through the water and act as slightly muffled ears for our Mama, picking up secrets where we can and reporting back to her. She lets us out every morning, and by evening we return with our plethora of information, determined to tell her.
We cannot speak. She scoops us up into our bowls, and we blobble, attempting to break free of our very comfortable, shiny prisons, pausing only to allow her to bestoy the ominous delicious flakes of mysterious origin. I do not know why, nor do my peers, but we feel compelled to eat them. And so we do. And then we forget our mission, and end up swimming in our bowls, pleased.
Our Mama is proud of us. We are her best informants, despite the fact we cannot speak to her. We just blub. She talks to us in a strange, forbidden language, and we have dubbed it Illumiboggle. We are confused by this sound, but we enjoy it nonetheless.
And then we rest. For the morning brings new information to be learned, and more delicious flakes to be nibbled.
Expect us. We will be watching. And we will be easily overthrown by a mildly heavier than usual stream.
We are the Illuminoggle.
