Pansy

It wasn't that Pansy didn't like her name, she actually loved it along with the little flowers, not to mention Pansy Jr., her familiar. She liked it so much she had a pansy named Pansy! It just didn't evoke the warrior image she hoped to project.

Iris and Delph arrived, her father carrying a heavy bag. Pansy tried to get a look at the bag but Delph kept it just out of sight. He went into "patriarch lecture mode" and Pansy tried to quell her curiosity and prepare to be bored. To her surprise he started talking about her training with Foxglove.

"The clan has become quite prosperous of late, in no small part due ro your assistance in training the young dragons. Do you enjoy such work? There seems to be no shortage of youngsters around here." Pansy responded enthusiastically. She loved fighting, and training Thistle and Poinsettia had been very rewarding. Watching them grow stronger and learn new moves she was teaching had been pretty special.

Pansy had almost forgotten about the bag when Iris pulled it into view. "We heard you had your eye on some armor. This isn't the prettiest but it's in great shape." At that she opened the bag and made a show of rummaging around in it. She pulled out a tarnished steel boot. Pansy's heart raced as Iris turned to rummage in the bag again. Then she giggled and dumped it all out in front of Pansy. Ooh! There were gauntlets and pauldrons and even tail cuffs. And there was the other boot!

Pansy laughed and thanked her parents profusely for the gift and began trying on the armor pieces. Hmm, she might need to get some advice from Foxglove in the morning. She couldn't wait to get to the coliseum tomorrow!
