The swirling deep is all they had ever known, the only light source being from their runes or a threat lurking in the pitch black waters. Despite all this, it was home to Cthullo, the caves in walls of the trench being just as homely to them as an Imperial on land being surrounded by light and plush pillows. But today, today something is different. Something is sending a constant vibration throughout the water but staying still, only mimicking motion, laying in the rib cage of some ancient and dead colossus. Cthullo, curious, swam over to the object in a shape of a square spiral, and poked at it with a claw.
"Life approaches." The relic bellowed, sending Cthullo darting away in fear. They were not to be kept away forever, however, and soon cautiously swam closer to the relic, and it spoke again. "Go to the surface, where light beams and shadows are created, your destiny awaits you there. Take this relic with you, and I shall tell you about what you shall find."

Well, they didn't have anything better to do today.

It had been days since Cthullo had gone beyond the surface of the water and, while they were enjoying all the new things, there were some things they had yet to master. Like speech. Luckily enough, WaveSpeaker had enough kindness in her heart to help them learn, though via poetry was perhaps not the best idea.
"That's okay, we can work on your writing skills later. Why don't you just tell me a poem you made?" WaveSpeaker was curious as to what her new companion's mind could comprehend. She didn't know if they understood the concept of poetry or beauty, and this was the way she thought it best to test that.
"Poetry...me?" Cthullo was thoroughly confused. They could make poetry too?
"Yes, make something up! Make it sound nice, like a poem!" The fae encouraged. The creature she is teaching went silent, which she sat patiently through, art takes time after all.
After a while of reflection, Cthullo spoke in their rumbling and rolling voice,
"The current of destiny is still churning hard
My magic-soaked heart can’t return to those days anymore
A single seagull draws near, weeping
What if that was its destiny?"
WaveSpeaker was silent for a good while, stunned. She had not expected such prose from a creature that could barely speak comprehensibly. They understood destiny, and longing, and sadness? This was far more than she had expected to learn in such a short period of time!
"Poetry good?" Cthullo asked, bringing their head down to the fae's level, looking for any sort of reaction.
"Poetry...poetry very good." She agreed. She would have to ask them more about their thoughts later.
Notes: basically an abyssal monstrosity but like, really bad at it. Like a scary teddy bear.
