After the Dark Lord Snowball was defeated (and he was defeated, despite what others may say), Valentine decided that it was time to settle down in a nice, quiet Clan with his lady-love and raise a family. Of course, there was one glaring problem with this plan: Valentine still had no lady-love of which to settle down with. And so, our Bumbling Casanova bid adieu to his friends and promised himself that he would not rest until he had found the love of his life. As fate would have it, Valentine ended up in the Hewn City and, being entirely unfamiliar with the Light territory, he soon got lost. He wasn't afraid, of course, but he was cold and tired and *GROOOOOOWL* hungry!
It was this growl, however, that would be Valentine's savior. Only moments after his empty stomach rumbled its displeasure at being, well, empty, a dragon came barreling out of nowhere and crashed right into our hero! The two dragons tumbled to the ground, slightly dazed but nonetheless alright. Valentine was the first to regain his composure, and he was ready to give the other dragon a piece of his mind (I mean, who just runs around a corner all willy-nilly like that?! It's just plain ol' dangerous) but as soon as he set eyes on the blue Wildclaw, he was in love! "Watch where you're going!" The lady Wildclaw huffed at Valentine. He was almost one-hundred percent certain that their collision was not his fault, but he didn't care if she blamed him. With a sweep of his tail, the handsome, red dragon bowed to the lady. "Please accept my most sincere apologies, Lady..." "Atalanta." "...Lady Atalanta." Valentine straighten up and introduced himself. "My name is Valentine, and it's a pleasure to meet you. Am I correct to presume that you're familiar with this, er, city?" Atalanta was taken aback. She had never been called a lady before, and much less by such a handsome dragon! However, she was not won-over by charm alone. Males had failed her in the past, and she had learned her lesson. If this Valentine character wanted to earn her trust, he would have to earn it! "I am. This is the Hewn City, and my Clan's territory is near here." Atalanta told Valentine. "Actually, why don't you come back with me? It's getting dark and you shouldn't be out here alone if you're not familiar with the area." Valentine was about to protest that he was incredibly strong and smart and that no enemy would be a match for him! But Atalanta was already walking away, so he kept his mouth shut and followed her back to her home. - chapter the second ,
Valentine and Atalanta's courtship was a happy one. The Bumbling Cassanova was certain that he could shed his title now, for he had found love with his beautiful Atalanta! And, on top of that, they were the proud parents of a clutch of three eggs! Surely, this was true happiness.
But, alas, Valentine's happiness was to be short-lived. Their eggs hatched into three wonderful children - Dashing, Darling, and Dearest - who grew (far too quickly, if Valentine had anything to say about it) into three independant adults who desired to travel far, far away from the Sunbeam Ruins. And the desire to travel was apparently an inherited one. "My dear Valentine," Atalanta turned to her suitor one night, "I am afraid that you and I must go our separate ways. I have lived here all of my life and I long to feel the wind beneath my wings. Please forgive me." Valentine was heart-broken, but he was fond of the old adage "if you love something, let it go", so he kept his feelings to himself and with a curt "farewell", Atalanta left at dawn. - chapter the - oh, forget it! chapter three ,
Our hero's future was now uncertain once again. Did he stay with his ex-lover's Clan? Or did he move on, accepting his destiny to become a roguish, lone wolf for the rest of his days? Valentine enjoyed the company of other dragon immensely, but everything in the Clan reminded him of Atalanta and their now estranged children. After many weeks, our bumbling hero decided upon a compromise: he would leave the Clan but remain in the Light territory, for it was the land of his heart.
