There are many wonderful things in this world, yet none in all of Sorneith are as wonderful as the ocean. With its fierce waves, swirling currents, and the rise and fall of the tide, it has shaped the world as we know it. But one time, it completely ruined one dragon's life in a way he least expected.

It could have happened any day. Any day, besides the day before Stormwave's and mate, Seria's, eggs were due to hatch. There were five of them, and Stormwave loved each to bits. Every day, he would go to visit the peaceful eggs sitting on a calm beach with hardly any waves. He sat himself down on a rock overlooking the eggs, and settled his eyes on them. Two were male, and the other three female, the seer of Stormwave's clan had said. Seria had named them already, the two males would be Kelsus and Caspian, and the females would be Seraphine, Kelpie, and Azura. What could possibly go wrong, when something is as perfect as this? Stormwave thought.

Well, thinking 'what could possibly go wrong?' might be the problem, there. Doesn't everyone know that? Near sunhigh, Stormwave noticed Seria coming towards him. She had small slips of paper in her talons, along with some sticky sap. "What are you doing with that, dearest?" he asked, a confused look pasted on his face. Stormwave caught a glimpse of a paper, and realized that it said Seraphine. "Wh-why does that say Seraphine?"

Seria sighed, and a sad expression crossed her face. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and Seria responded. "The seer has just told me something terrible. Our eggs will not hatch on this beach, no matter what we do. He... he said" -she sniffed, and stuck the papers onto the eggshells- "he said that they will hatch far, far away from our home, and this was the only thing that could make it better on us." With that, Seira gently smoothed on the last paper, and burst into tears, wrapping her wings around her mate.

A single tear fell from Stormwave's eyes before he pulled away. "This isn't true," he insisted. "The seer is making up lies to scare you. Nothing will happen to our eggs."

Seria stared into Stormwave's blue eyes, and saw that his words were the exact opposite of what he thought. She wiped the tears out of her eyes. "There is no way to control destiny, you can only do small things to make it less harsh. This is our small thing, knowing that whatever happens tomorrow, we will know that our dragonets will have the wonderful names we chose for them."
