BIOGRAPHY
Bamboo Shoot Clove came from a large Fae clan in the Windswept Plateau where she was surrounded by friends and family. She was one of five hatchlings and out of all of them, she matured the most quickly, enjoying following her parents around as they tended to their children. As she grew older, she spent even more time in the hatchery, helping to raise newer hatchlings, especially the smaller and weaker runts of the clutches. She greatly enjoyed raising new hatchlings, and watching them become fully fledged adult dragons within the clan. Eventually Clove felt the wanderlust of being a Wind dragon, and so she set out from her home clan and traveled across Sornieth, from the Southern Icefield up to the Viridian Labyrinth. Being a small fae dragon, her travels were difficult, and often she found herself on the brink of death until a kindly wandering dragon, or a friendly clan nursed her back to health, and she would continue on her way. After years of travel, Clove returned to her homeland in the Windswept Plateau, where instead of returning to her home clan, she decided to settle, and make herself her own lair, fastened onto the side of a small cliff next to the entrance of a little cave. One that would be open to dragons of all kinds. This was her way of repaying the kindness of the dragons she met while on her journey, for she would welcome dragons of all kinds into her lair and make them feel welcome. And if they wanted to stay, she would be more than happy to include them into her tiny clan.
Maple Leaf Clove is a hugely friendly dragon, willing to accept anyone into her lair, whether it be for a couple of nights or more permanently. She goes out of her way to make everyone her friend, and there are very few dragons who dislike her or don't get along with her. She's willing to overlook a dragon's past, whatever it may be, as long as they work hard within the clan and are kind to those around them. She has an incredibly strong mothering streak, and she loves looking after new hatchlings with Peri and Indigo, although she can't spend all her time in the hatchery because as the Clan Matriarch she has many more duties to attend to. She'll adopt lost and abandoned hatchlings into her clan, making sure that they never feel left out or unwanted, even if they have no blood relatives within the clan, and many of the current clan members are dragons that she took in when they were just hatchlings. Due to her being such a hard working dragon, it's common for the other dragons in the clan to find Clove at the end of the day curled up on the floor fast asleep. At which point, they will usually move her somewhere more comfortable and cover her up so she doesn't get cold in the night. And when she wakes up in the morning, she'll be gently chastised and told that she has to look after herself a little more carefully, but everyone knows they'll find her asleep on the floor again that night.
Bamboo Cluster Despite being a small fae dragon, Clove can be ridiculously protective of her lair and her clan, willing to fight off rival dragons and other creatures many times larger than she is, and often succeeding in her endeavours. The rest of the dragons in the clan joke that Clove's temper can rival that of a coatl, but they also know that she will never become angry without good cause. Clove is also highly excitable, getting worked up whenever any of the dragons in the clan achieve something, even if it is something as small as finding a keepsake they'd thought they'd lost. And while this excitable nature can become a little tiring for the adult dragons, the hatchlings thrive under the overwhelming support they receive from Clove.

STORY

The tiny fae felt a rush of warmth and happiness rush through her as she saw her home, the Windswept plateau come into view as she soared through the air, the black basalt and plumes of smoke slowly melding into green grass and gently swaying clusters of bamboo. She, after so many years of traveling and exploring, had finally returned home. The breezes soaring through the air almost seemed to lift her higher and sweep her even more swiftly to her destination, like the Windsinger himself was calling her back home. Her years of adventure had been difficult, as being a tiny fae she had struggled nearly every step of the way, but she had been so touched, and so kindly helped by the many compassionate dragon souls whom she had met along her journey, allowing her to continue her wanderings. But the time had come for her to return home, to return to the Windsinger’s domain and live among his people once more. Gently, she touched down onto the grass in the Zephyr Steppes, taking a few moments to relax and stretch her wings, feeling the breeze blow through the air and against her scales, the same breezes that she grew up with, making her feel at home and complete once more. Yes, this was what she’d been missing the whole time, the lush green grass beneath her claws and a a gentle breeze blowing through the air. After taking her time to rest, and gather her strength (and snack on a few saved insects) she spread out her wings, ready to set off again. But where to go? Return to her old clan? Find a new clan to live with? Or, perhaps, be daring enough to start a clan of her own?

The little fae hesitated, and lowered her wings back down as she began to think. And perhaps it was the wanderlust, the need for adventure and excitement that lead her to her decision, but she decided she would set up her own clan, for any dragons who needed her help, or even simply just wanted to settle there. It would be lonely at first, and she knew that, though that same thought hadn’t stopped her from travelling the world. Her crests fluttering determinedly, she spread her wings again and took to the skies, soaring over the grassy plains.

The sun was setting, turning the land a crimson red and evening stars twinkling in the skies when she finally landed softly on the ground in front of a large cave settled into a small hill and gently sloping down into the ground. Well, she knew it was only large to her, to the larger dragons, it would merely be average sized. But what had drawn her down was the quiet, almost haunting music that filled the air. Creeping forwards in the growing darkness, she fluttered up into the cave, hunting for the source of the noise. Looking around, the began to notice that the cave wasn’t just one large cave, it was a network of caves and tunnels, some so small that even she wouldn’t fit in them, and the strange music she could hear was the wind blowing through the myriad of tunnels, turning the rocks into an instrument.

“Perhaps this is the Windsinger’s own instrument…?”
She mused softly as a gentle breeze drew a crescendo from the rocks, before softly dying back down.

The little fae hunted around in the caves a little more as the skies grew steadily darker, more stars beginning to twinkle brightly. There was no sign of creatures or dragons already living in these caves, and she couldn’t help but wonder if the Windsinger himself had guided her to these caves to help her on her new quest. Landing in the mouth of the cave, she looked out at the purple bruised sky. It was too dark to continue flying now, though she knew, deep down, that this was the place. This was where she was going to set up her new home, this was where she was going to open a refuge to all dragons, right here in the singing caves.
