Mufasa

This beautiful boy is in honor of one of the goodest boys I ever knew. He's waiting in front of the lair to greet everyone. Please give him the affection he deserves.
His passing was way too early but he remains in our hearts and memories.


You were my big, dumb son. My pretty boy. My Big Boof. Dad cried a lot. We all miss you so much. Everyone did their best but we still lost you. I hope you're the same smiley idiot in heaven or wherever you are. Maybe you decided to stay behind as a ghost.

I'll miss you laying on top of me. How you would beg by laying your head on things. Your big speak. Such a good boy. I miss you waiting in the hall outside my door. I miss your pretty eyes.

Nobody wanted to bring a corpse home so we got you cremated. You're on top of the bookshelf where everyone can see you. I love you, Mufasa.


2/3/2019: It's been a while since we lost you. It hurts to remember the happiness but I'm a lot better than I was a few weeks ago. It's so weird not having you around, if someone didn't know better they might think you were never here at all. But you were and the time I spent with you was amazing, as short as it was.

I have plans for 2019, even if I have to do them without you, but I get the feeling that isn't true. I've seen you in my dreams a few times and eventually decided that you're visiting me. It really comforts me to think you're still with me in a way.

There's a quote that also comforts me, a song lyric from Twenty Øne Pilots, from the same album that first got me to smile after seeing you for, what I later found out, was the last time. It's from a song called Legend, about Tyler's grandpa. He mentions how mixing it will take too long for him to show his grandpa, and the last line of the song really reminds me of you.

"Then the day that it happened, I recorded this last bit. I look foward to having a lunch with you again."

I'll see you again someday.


2/26/2019: I'm sure you already know by now, but Chrome has joined you. It was probably one of the hardest decisions dad ever had to make. She was just too sick to save, to the point that she would've suffered if she lived through the treatments. And there was always the chance that something could go wrong before treatment was even over.

It's so, so empty without you both. Things are so much quieter. I never thought I would lose you both so soon. None of us did. I hope that, at the very least, having your sister by your side makes waiting for the rest of the family less lonely.
