Returned Princess
Budding Diplomat

Foreign

Born to the Tempest Clan, Lydia was sent away to her new home in the shadow realm at a young age. Then named Kakuja, the female – as well as her brother Kakuhou - became part of the court in the new clan, at home with the politics and dealings she was born to.

Called

Unknown to her, in the years since her departure her birth clan had been waiting for the birth of a similar hatchling. A female with colors like hers, that would represent the bloodline of the exalted king and honor the clan. Unfortunately, no matter how many times the queen and her mate tried, no children were ever good enough to please the gods and one by one they were sent away.

Growing desperate with each unsuccessful clutch of eggs, the queen sent word to all her children in foreign clans. Many had been sent to serve the gods over the years, and her first children from the Tempest Clan’s beginnings were all exalted warriors now. However, a few of the children had managed to find safe heavens where they thrived, and a few of them even met the requirements to appease the gods.

With a heavy and hopeful heart, the queen sent envoys to all those clans in hopes of calling one of her chosen children home. After letter after letter came back with polite declines to her request, finally a messenger from the Driftwood Drag came back with the news they sought. The princess Kakuja would be returning home at her mother’s request – and wouldn’t she also want her daughter’s sibling to accompany her?

Overjoyed at the news, Cassandra finally breathed a sigh of relief as the quest for another royal heir came to an end. Her returning daughter would receive a new name fitting of her station and clan, and all would be well. The gods would be appeased, and they could thrive once more.

Fragile

Upon her return, the princess was received with a feast and a celebration on par with the arrival of a Godborn descendant. Draped in finely crafted jewelry by the clan’s best artisans, Lydia was accepted once more into the clan she had once called home.

Terrified of any harm befalling her daughter as it had the prince, Cassandra at once begged her warriors to find a bodyguard for the young female.
No one in the clan would ever accept such a job – out of fear of failure and what it might entail if they had the misfortune of surviving it – so a contract was offered to any mercenary who would be interested. The sum was outrageous, the contract unbelievable, and the trek to the ice realm itself enough of a trial on the candidates for the job. The behemoth imperial stood out from the crop of eager greenhorns, and was shortly sworn as the princess’ protector.
Miffed at being constantly watched over and at her guard’s flippant behavior upon her demands, the female decided to take upon herself to make the male earn his keep. Constantly vanishing into pockets in the mountain and overall driving him insane is her favorite pastime, and her brother seems to be the only one able to keep her still long enough for her bodyguard to make sure she’s alright – although he wouldn’t say no to wringing her little neck himself. Some days the princess could be a lot more trouble than she was worth.
