Unnamed Princess
Royal Outcast

No One

Born as one of the royal children of the queen and her exalted king, the young princess came into being during an age of political uncertainty.
Shortly after the return of the exalted king, a child of his bloodline was demanded to secure the line of succession. However, a child of the queen's previous consort already resided in the clan. Tensions were high as members of the court and council started to argue and ally themselves with one bloodline or the other.
Finally it was decided that raising a royal hatchling right then would prove too troublesome and dangerous, so a grown child of the king's bloodline was invited back into the clan. After months of careful negotiation with foreign clans bearing children of the king, Lydia finally came home. Her younger sister, born a few months before her return and still a young hatchling, had no more use as a placeholder.

Favored by the gods while her sister was courted by the council members, the unnamed princess was allowed to be kept until such a time as a fitting home could be found for her. Unfortunately for her, no clans seemed interested in an alliance in a time of political turmoil, and she spent the following years haunting the hallways of the clan's stronghold, thrown in with the other hatchlings offered for barter, and yet never being allowed to leave like the others. She soon grew tired of it.

Not allowed to bear a name - for it is the privilege of a dragon's new home to name them according to local custom and law - the princess was ignored by the confused dragons not allowed to pay her the courtesy owed to her station, and likewise unable to treat her like commonfolk. Her blood made her essentially an outcast, and the favors that kept her there were more a curse than a blessing.

Self-Made

Unlike her siblings, the princess enjoyed a degree of freedom unheard of for one of royal blood. No matter what she did, no guards would dare stop her for fear of what might happen should they harm a royal child; likewise her murky standing allowed her to roam freely and pursue whatever matters caught her interest as a free commoner might.

While her sister despised her presence, Lysander had no problem spending time with his more agreeable sibling, and the princess often abused her freedom to sneak her brother out as well. Though well meaning, the queen’s overbearing attitude with her two – officially heirs – children often left Lysander and Lydia feeling smothered. The prince enjoyed a quick reprieve to spend time with his youngest sister and enjoy a modicum of freedom.
Savvy in the ways of the outside world, he taught his sister about languages and customs of other clans, as well as the arts of diplomacy and combat. Though not acknowledged as an heir, the unnamed princess was as capable as her sister, if not a better candidate to one day inherit the clan’s throne.

Wanting a name for herself, the princess got the name “Lyric” from her brother. After all, it was only fitting that as a royal heir she followed the pattern as her siblings did. Moving into the lower catacombs where the recently appointed priestess lived with the Warden, Lyric slowly carved a place for herself – finally moving out of the shadow of the queen and embracing the royal status and legacy her unfortunate birth order robbed her of having.
