Salesman
Only two things can top his ego. His skills as a salesman and his respect for his wife, Opaline

Glazer was born into a group of travelling merchants. He spent his childhood all over Sornieth, moving from market to market, from dragon clan to dragon clan. They sold whatever they got their claws on, ranging from pots and dishware over clothes and silks to seldomly jewelry or books. They made good money with that, earning enough to make a good life for themselves. Here, Glazer learned everything about the basics of trade, charisma, bargaining. And he was good with it. At very young age, his parents would leave their stand in his capable claws, knowing he’d make most of what he was given. And indeed, he did.

Actually, Glazer’s turnovers soon exceeded those of all the other merchants in his group. He was not scared to use his silver tongue and any other tricks to squeeze money out of his customers. At first, he used his charisma only, but soon, he exaggerated, and even lied to get the numbers he wanted.

One day, the leader of the merchants, Email, approached him. Email asked him to stop his immoral practices, to not damage their reputation. Glazer could not understand why the old Imperial would voluntarily pass on perfectly fine profit. After all, it was the customer’s fault if they decided to spend the treasure. Him and the other Imperial got into a fight and Glazer was given the choice: Either, he’d quit, or he’d have to continue on his own. Glazer left the same night.

He made his way through Sornieth, making a fortune with his trade. He bargained and lied, but he never had to feel the consequences. He could’ve and would’ve continued forever, if he hadn’t gotten too greedy.

It was on a market close to the Crystalspine Reaches, where Glazer had set up his stand. A young female Nocturne was inspecting the wares at his stall. She started a discussion about the prices, seeing they were too high, but Glazer told her to move on and never bother him again if she didn’t have the funds to buy from him. She left, and a different group of dragons approached the stall. There were five of them, Guardians and Pearlcatchers, led by an impressive Guardian. He showed interest in a statue Glazer was selling, a cheap replica. In his self-confident manner, Glazer sold it to them as the real thing, heavily overprized by a factor of 200. They paid and left, and Glazer continued his business.

In the evening, he started to pack up, happy about the good deal he had made, when suddenly, a shadow approached from behind. Glazer turned and stared right into the eyes of the Guardian he had betrayed. Somehow, he had found out he had been sold a replica. Quickly, the Guardian’s friends surrounded Glazer, staring at him from all sides.

Suddenly, a voice rang out, catching the attention of some of Glazer’s offenders. Glazer managed to break through their circle and bolted. He heard their steps following behind him, chasing him through the lair. But again, Glazer was saved by a voice, guiding him into a hideout. With his heart in his mouth, he watched his pursuers run past and disappear in the night. When he turned around, his gaze met that of the Nocturne from earlier.

Together, they tried to recover his wares from his stall, but upon returning they saw that the Guardian and his friends had taken everything that had been left. Glazer was ruined, with nowhere else to go. Helplessly, he tried to find a way to continue, but his thoughts were twirling. The Nocturne, Tourmaline was her name, saw his panic and fear. Filled with compassion, she ignored his behavior from earlier and offered him a place to stay.
