Botanist and gatherer of plants
He loves collecting flowers, but he always saves the prettiest for his mate, Tyche Iapetus was born and raised on the Windswept Plateau as part of a big and loving family. While he loved his siblings a lot, he often would leave the clan to find some time on his own in the wideness of the steppe. Soon he discovered his love for colorful flowers and exotic mushrooms. He collected whatever plant he found fascinating, to bring it home and learn more about it from the elders of his clan. His excellent memory and fascination made it easy for him to remember all the different kinds of flowers, herbs, mushrooms, and trees. But he also discovered there was a limit to the plants his elders knew. Most of them had never left the Windswept Plateau and the flora beyond their deity’s realm was unknown to them. Iapetus arranged himself with these limits, but in his dreams, he visited places filled with flowers he had never seen before. One day, a traveler joined the clan for the night. The delicate Skydancer told stories of the places he had seen, especially about the beauty of Starwood Strand. Iapetus was enchanted by his words: A forest with sky-high trees, which’s flowers glistered like stars in the moonlight. Even though fear clasped Iapetus heart upon the thought, he knew he had to go and see this with his very own eyes. So he set out and travelled towards the shore he had heard about. And indeed, the Skydancer had been right. As soon as night fell, Iapetus found himself in a sea of stars, shining all around him, glistering and dancing with the markings on his scales. For days he stayed in the forest, unable to avert himself from the beauty surrounding him. There, on Starwood Strand, Frosty found him. Iapetus invited him for a shared meal, composed of plants and mushrooms he had gathered. The Tundra was surprised by the confidence with which Iapetus collected and used the different plants and asked him to stay with his lair as botanist and plant gatherer. Iapetus agreed, happy he could stay so close to the wonders of Starwood Strand. It was more than a year later that Iapetus had another encounter that should change his life. He was collecting mushrooms at the time, when suddenly, he discovered something between the trees around. On the ground, unmoving, lay an imperial. Only her breast raised and lowered slightly. Iapetus approached her, but she did not react. Her eyes were closed and if not for the very faint and soft breathing, Iapetus would’ve thought her dead. Immediately he made his way back to the clan and returned with other dragons to rescue the imperial. They brought her back to the lair safely. Iapetus made sure to gather all the herbs and other ingredients she’d need for her recovery. When finally awoke, he did not leave her side. He spent days with her, talking about anything that came to their mind. And soon, Iapetus felt romantic feelings sprouting inside of him. He decided to propose to Tyche only a month after they met, convinced she’d be the dragon he’d want to share his life with. But Tyche declined. Iapetus’ world fell apart. For days on end, the clan did not see him, as he was out and about in the wideness of Starwood Strand. Eventually, however, he found his courage to return to the lair and Tyche. Again, they got talking to each other, more and longer. At first, Iapetus felt dread spreading inside of him, knowing that his feelings were not returned. But he still allowed a friendship to develop, content with what he had. And one day, Tyche let him know that now, love had sprouted within her as well.  XXXX XXXX Tyche |
