As a young hatchling, Arek came across a small crystal. This crystal was oblong in shape, with jagged corners. Overall, the stone was jet black, however, there were small silverish white specks. Each of the specs was shaped like a snowflake, which is where this crystal gets its name. This crystal, was a piece of Snowflake Obsidian.

When Arek found this crystal, he had an extremely strong connection to it. So he picked it up and continued on his way. Over time, his connection to this stone grew stronger. It grew so strong, that one day he woke up to find the crystal gone, and instead, his patterns changed to look like that of the crystal.
Arek spent quite a bit of his life like this alone. He didn't understand that it was something other dragons went through, until one day he came across his mate, Alice. She was the same way he was, and together they founded the clan of the Snowfae, and brought the Snowfae Obsidian subspecies to light.
