MJ2020 Judge Spin a Yarn

At barely over a meter in length, and a third less in wingspan, DarkSpirit is tiny as Fae go, but makes up for it with a surprising intensity. His ascerbic manner, fierce Plague eyes and sharp hardwood monotone, and a headfan-semaphore that looks more angry than anything else, mask a true softie with a wry sense of humor and a keen appreciation for those who look past appearances and have the chutzpah to try to get him to crack a smile. Unless it happens to be a certain annoying Ridgeback.

That Ridgeback would be Fireweaver.
Fireweaver is large for a Ridgeback with a personality and a laugh to match. An expert electrical engineer even by Lightning Flight standards, and a work ethic that is not (“You mean I have to continue working after all my work is done? What fun is that? Hokay, bye now!”) he likes nothing more in the spare time he cleverly ekes out of his workday than to visit and unmercifully tease a very very dear friend - a certain tiny Plague Fae.

“Am I in...an egg? This is not what I expected when you said “multiverses”, Mr. Varlamin.”

“Hokay, well, asked for something different, and think I got it.” The mental voice held laughter. “Am in something called Lightning flight, and the engineering shop-talk is familiar. They have technology I know, so feeling very much at home.”

“You would.” Came the sour reply. “While I...am still in an egg, it’s very dark, and I am unbelievably cramped in here.”

“Well, am making my way to you, Mr. **** - Pull -Prul - “

“Never mind, just call me Tateh.”

“Oh, think I will call you Mr. ****, because you can be one, you know? You fill my head with irritation.”

“I’m glad you noticed.”

“Oh so dry, are we?”

“I feel very wet, if you must know. And...ugh..not myself.”

“Yes, well, that was surprise to me too. Apparently principal sentient life on this world is not humanoid, so our outer forms are not either.”

“The hell?!?”

“Don’t worry, Mr. Paranoid! Oh that is good one, too. It certainly hasn’t changed who you *are*. Or me as far as I know. I actually am liking being a dragon.”

“A...what now?”

“You know, wings, claws, tail. Except my wings are little crumpled still. Haven’t been out of my egg that long yet.” The airy response was as amused as the return reply was not.

“I wouldn’t know.”

“Heh. I will be secret keeper. Who would I tell?”

“Who would you not? I can’t imagine you finding a secret you didn’t like so much that you wanted to share it. In any case, I want out. Now.”

“So, hatch yourself, then.”

“Gah! The smell! Why are you taking so long?”

“Bohze mi, no wonder. Place looks like open sore, smells like me on bad day. Plus, flying is very distracting. Very nice ocean to east, before deciding to ‘port in.”

“You just now remembered you can teleport.”

“Hey! We are exploring!”

“I spent more than 5 minutes in that egg. Where are you?”

“Five minutes is when I get you back home. Can spend as much time here as want. And am up here. Not touching claw on *that* ground. Is like Plague. Hey, like you, no wonder. I shall call you Mr. Plague, instead. Notice you are still balancing on half-shell. Come up!”

A stifled curse, ending in ‘somethingidiot’, and a black mote rocketed skyward, stopping short at a very large angular copper metallic snout.

“Oho! You looking like you know your way around wings already!”

“You think? And by all light, you are huge!!”

“Um, no. 3 ½ meters does not count for huge here, trust me. Is you that are tiny. Maybe…no, not even third of meter. So cute! Tiny man, tiny dragon! And so black. You wear any other color?”

“I swear…”

“Yes, you do that a lot. And did you know you have fans on head that move like little tiny semaphore?
Don’t even need tinkling in head to understand you. ”

“I’ll show you tinkling!”
